mattwnz: I am wondering what the advantage of paying to get someone else to install it was, if normally it is free to get it installed anyway. I would contact the company you paid about it as to why what they installed isn't suitable.

I know a few people who have done this on rural lifestyle blocks. "Fibre will be here one day so lets do it anyway". This is before UFB boundaries were announced with free residential installs so I cant place anyone at fault - we the consumers are getting a better deal than some of us expected.

On Monday they livened up the fibre.

They flashed the firmware.
They have removed access to the web interface from the LAN side on the ONT.
They have set up the ONT in bridge mode.

By flashing the firmware, they have controlled what the default settings are, if you would reset it back.

I was hoping that we could just change it from bridge mode to router mode after they left, but since I can't get back into the interface, I can't change it.

From what I found the ONT is manufactured to run either in router mode or in bridge mode.

Over the weekend I took a screenshot of the DHCP server page (web interface) of the ONT.

We chose not to pay extra on a router from the ISP, I found a Ethernet router that support VLans, which I was given awhile ago, I've tested it and it works but the firewall in it doesn't stealth the ports when testing with Shields Up.

I'm installing Linux on a computer and going to set that up as a router and asterisk server
