eXDee: Regardless of the price i'd still use something else instead of godaddy personally.

Ive been using them for about 10 years for .COM ones, and never really had any problems apart from the odd billing one with them not accepting my credit card. But their are better prices now with other providers, but sometimes you can get a good promo code. But NZ business should really be using a good NZ provider which they can get hold of 7 days a week in case of problems. But business should really register their domain for 10 years so they never have the problem of it expiring, as the cost of an expired domain on terms of disruptions can cost a heck of a lot more.

Why give an overseas company money for something we can do here in NZ? Anyway, we're vastly off-topic and I have no idea why anybody bought up GoDaddy given their reputation especially for NZ domain names.

Because when they were registered over 10 years ago, .COM domains were very expensive in NZ. Transferring .COM domains are also a PITA compared to NZ ones and the ones I have are setup have registered nameservers which godaddy have a good interface for. Most NZ providers I have tried providers don't have an interface for registering custom nameservers when you have a server. Godaddys system is actually reasonably easy and straight forward to use.
Also godaddy are actually a registered .COM registrar, while most NZ ones are just resellers for .COM domains, so support is more difficult when you have a problem, as it has to go through a middleman. But for .NZ domains I use NZ registrars and there is no reason to use an overseas provider. But for .COM domains, that is a different story. The thing is that many overseas providers now look give the illusion they are based in NZ, with NZ domains and phone numbers, so can sometimes be difficult to pick them

Which brings me back to my original question.... here's hoping that someone on GZ has a mate that works at Woosh and understands how DNS on the internet works.....

Yeah I've never enjoyed dealing with Melbourne IT.

If I were to recommend a DNS provider in NZ, I would go with Orcon. Their online DNS management is straight forward, and if you don't use a CC they will even register the domain right away and post you an invoice.

EDIT - this being said I can't remember if their online interface allows you to manipulate TTLs.

How do you manage DNS with Orcon? It's a bit... complicated. I have iServe .nz domains. The iServe domains interface only exposes NS. I then have a free iServe hosting account which I use only to create the domain records.

I still have a couple of domains setup like that but the easiest way is to just use Cloudflare for DNS, with the NS pointing to their servers. This is free. Or for a more business-like solution use Dyn.com (which i used for Geekzone for years).
