johny99: just get the wimax 10/3 from compass installed, it will be better than what you currently have. save a bit more by using the sip channel for your home phone.

Yep. I might as well go on the 10/3 plan. I contacted them and they told me that I was in the coverage area. My dad wasn't too happy about the installation cost and the monthly cost but he caved. I told him let me look at alternatives and since there aren't any I'll just contact Compass tomorrow:)

in terms of monthly fees, you might wanna keep a copper connection, that you can push large downloads via, while doing your real time stuff over the faster connection.

That's a good idea actually... but it would be expensive. My dad wouldn't see the point in that.

ild look at it this way, if overusage is through the roof, and your likely to download alot, then your not gonna mind your connection pegging at 2MBit all day long pulling a update for example..

its all about management, as wireless plans are often pretty costly..

During the holidays I used a 100gigs with a month to spare with YouTube and downloading. My cousins would do the same but I will still be the highest user.

My dad simply won't keep the ADSL connection because it would be too costly to maintain both.

Honestly, if it's your dad who is paying the bills, he should just keep that ADSL. How old are you now and how long are you planning to stay there? If you really need to have faster Internet, you should be paying this.

I second this.
I paid for the internet at my aunts during a period and further yet I now pay internet for the household that I currently live with(girlfriend's mother and brother as well as myself)

You want better service pay for it yourself as arrogant as it sounds.

He wants faster internet too. Its not just me that wants it faster.

He was encouraging me to try and find alternatives for faster internet, that's what I've done.

That's different. Besides I would be paying bills, we didn't decide which ones yet but he would pay for some.

Hell no. The people here hate the speed as much as me but I doubt they would pay to fund a new cabinet. As much as I wish everyone here would chip in.

Maybe you should go and knock their doors. See, how many of them are willing to pay.

Would only need 30 people to chip in $5k each. Doesn't sound unfeasible.

Yeah I could. But after my exams.

I suspect the small business owners wouldn't definitly mind. Did some basic maths and if 400 households pay 375 each then we could get somewhere. But again I don't know. It depends on how many people would if I go knocking.

Thank you so much for taking me seriously unlike others. I appreciate it.
