Good internet Companies?

World exchange (great support and good speeds)
Clear net (easy, fast and very reliable)
Compass/slingshot (cheap and reasonable but it has it's moments)

ones to plain avoid
iHug (out more than it's working alack customer service)
Xtra (constant outages)
Orcon (Reliable but slow so i'm told by a few friends)

Simple, Avoid the big "3" and don't go with the cheapest!

check that your line supports a good speed or go on a 256/128 type plan, there is no point paying for 7Mb datarate when your line is only capable of 784 k for example.

Just a quick update - ihug have literally bought themselves an extra month before I cancel my account:
12.50 credit on ihug account

At least they seem to realise that the new plan isn't worth as much as the old one...

wow.. I've never seen a credit like that. Was that automatic, or did you get a Goodwill refund after complaining?

Neither. No idea where it came from, and I wouldn't have noticed it until after I cancelled had I not been looking around on the ihug website for how to complain. It's not exactly impressive, (unless everyone getes one, I guess) but it makes it worthwhile staying with them for one month...

They have come up with some extra offers to lure you. If you buy a phone line and agree to stick with them for 12 months they will either give you 1GB plan Free for 12 months or if you are already on broadband 2,3,4 give you $30 discount each month. Seems like a good deal.

I thought they had that quite a while ago...
