There has been a lot of talk, blaming international upstreams (not in the thread, but in others), mainly Asia Net... The one of Airnet's international upstreams is Asia Net, so this speed test was to prove that the issues people are suffering appear to be at the ISP level, rather than the upstream providers (wXc also use Asia Net)
PS: Pricing isnt bad, considering the service deliveried is what you pay for... what more can you ask for?
I believe there coverage is still limited to the Hawkes Bay and Rotorua regions? Would pay to check with them on that however.
I dont know there pricing schedule either, however I'm sure if you are within those regions they would be more than willing to answer your questions...
I was seriously considering the big change to Xnet meself but if knumbnut's speeds are anything to go by, first impressions are not that much better than Woosh. Do they give P2P traffic a fair go on a good day ?
I'm still pretty happy with my orcon deal, $80 for phone, unlimited national tolls and 20GB internet.
The speeds are good, Actually I get better international speeds through Orcon that I did with telstraclear!
at the start they were not the quickest but they soon rectified it, note I'm also ripping videos off youtube while doing that test so this will be inaccurate.

As far as I can tell, nothing is throttled. I admit it looks like they have a speed issue during the day at the moment. Morning speed seems fine (ie: 20x faster than what I could get with Woosh)
6:15am International
Plus, I'm paying less and not supporting a company that in disfunctional.
Now, there could definately be a situation in future where another ISP can offer more reliable speed for a better price - I'm sure there will. And because I'm not locked into a contract with XNET and don't use their email system, changing ISP's is as easy as a phone call and a router setting change. So if you can get out of your Woosh contract and use around 20Gig per month - XNET will be a step up for you.
Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.
PS: I'm doing hourly tests throughout the day and will graph it tomorrow for you. I'll also get comment from XNET to see if I get BS answers like Woosh. Geeky enough for ya?
OK, Here is the INTERNATIONAL speeds I'm getting from yesterday, taken on the hour from 6am through to 10pm. I'm quite a distance from Avonhead 2 exchange in Christchurch. You can see everything turns to poos around 4pm. I contacted XNET who were great - it's been a problem in the past apparently but new equipment (routers) have been installed to deal with the problem. Very helpful customer service - very impressed. Sent me a list of traceroute tests to perform so they can open a fault request with Telecom. Will post updates here.
