MikeAqua: You never get exactly the full rating.  Not a WiFi connection, I tested on a laptop connected by a hardline.



I just noticed my ASUS wifi adapters, talking to an ASUS tri-band router (RT-N66U), have a wifi connection speed rated at 300mbps.

"The ASUS RT-N66U dual-band wireless-N900 gigabit router" it will use 3x3 MIMO though for wifi N. this is 3 different aerials/antennas that allow a max of 450mbps on the 2.4ghz band and  450mbps on the 5ghz band. as you are conncted at 300mbps that suggests one of the devices only supports 2x2 MIMO which has a max speed of 300mbps for wifi N.
