I will once I've tidied everything up. I still need to get the EdgeRouter up and running, get an ATA and then mount everything in the comms cupboard.

I got as far as getting pppoe stood up with vlan 10 and pinging out from the ERL last night but probably won't be doing much more for a good few days due to other commitments.

Also need to sort out my /29 external IP range. Hopefully @2degreescare will be able to help me out with that one :)

Just another ping to @2degreesCare. Need to get this /29 sorted out asap. I've got a mobile and a land line that I need to port so that I can cancel existing providers but can't do that until I know that 2degrees can sort this out. If not I'll have to talk about exiting the contract and finding a different ISP which I really don't want to do.

Many thanks to Ralph @2degreescare. Network is now fully up and running.

I went through and created a zone based firewall for 7 zones on the EdgeRouter last night, that was a bit of a mission but will now be very easy to manage.

Network is as follows. I'm sure at @michaelmurfy will be interested.

Let the labbing begin(continue)!

Now I just need to get the physical cabling tidied and devices mounted.

Thanks Michael. I actually just the other day bought an SPA112 which is the same but without the routing functionality. I've also been playing with Asterisk which has been fun, I was able to get a sip trunk set up for my Microsoft Lync environment.

Yes it is overkill but to get real world experience on some of the bigger MS applications i.e. Lync, Exchange etc you do "need" a setup like this. I've spent less $$ on my lab then a single 5 day IT course (not much less!) and I'm learning a hell of a lot more.

Hang on, why am I trying to justify overkill! This is geekzone :D

BTW a bunch of your previous threads on the ERL were really helpful and made setup much faster so thanks for that :)

As promised, a couple of internal photos. Still not very tidy but fine for now. I think I'm too cheap to go and buy all new patch cables so there are all sorts in there.

I've just ordered a managed HP switch to replace the HP unmanaged one. Then I'll be able to trunk the access points and make use of them in the lab with 802.1x authentication.

Above this cupboard there is another larger cupboard in the bedroom where the 'server' lives and 2 more POE injectors, USB TV Tuners, alarm etc.

Looks awesome!

Does your network cupboard have a door? If so, do you have any kind of active ventilation in there to keep all the toys cool?

Do you have room in your top cupboard for future upgrades, such as a NAS?

The patch panel cupboard in the picture above is just an open cupboard. And it's right by the front door which I think is nice.

Picture below shows the 'server cupboard' which is above and behind the patch panel cupboard. Where you can see the cable disappearing goes down in to the capped channel in the patch panel cupboard.

Would I be right in thinking that your hall cupboard is one of those old cupboards that had a curtain across it to hide the likes of your vacuum cleaner away? It reminds me of some I remember seeing in older houses.

If it was my place, I reckon I'd put a smoked glass door on it. Like the kind of door a big network cabinet has.

Yes you're 100% correct. In fact the curtain was still there when we bought the house.

Not sure about the smoked glass but you've got me thinking now about how I could put some kind of door on there. Maybe a wooden slat door.
