You should explain to them that wifi is not and never has been UFB, but could be referred to as FSB (fairly slow broadband).

I suspect you would have to take the bodycorp to court to get any results, since they aren't actually interested in consenting anything. There are lots of ways to get cable through a building despite some of them being challenging, but some of the biggest challenges can be the bodycorp which may live in fear of firewalls not being reinstated or having "ugly" capping or ceiling hatches in hallways. They should perhaps consider the possibility of their building becoming a wasteland in the event of a property market correction due to potential tenants preferring properties serviced by UFB.

Time to find a new industry!

Update:

Had the AGM on Monday and I raised the issue of getting fibre. Overwhelmingly in favour of getting it for the building, including from people on the body corp committee. It is weird, UFB was available at our apartment, the MDU and a few townhouses got it next door and got brochures from ISP and Chorus about it.

Now the Chorus fibre map is showing May 2017, when it is available again, the body corporate along with the owners will look into it seriously and finding a solution with someone who "knows what they are doing" when it comes to apartments and go towards a solution that works for everyone. I.e. they still don't want unseemly wires, cutting massive hatches etc.

Can someone from Chorus help or recommend with this? There have been two past consults and they seem to have been with techs that didnt know what they were doing according to the building manager and were probably only used to doing normal houses etc. (I do not know the extent of the truth for this)

I guess this is the step in the right direction :)

Sounds like the building manager wishes he was the cabling guy! The initial consultation would be with the scoper not the installer, so he's only looking for pathways and consulting on where things will go. Sounds like bodycorp is still not willing to accept compromises required to get the job done. I personally think they should accept that wiring pathways should have been planned when the building was designed, so now there has to be compromises. The alternative of course is to budget for replacing alot of gib in the ceilings so that cables can be hidden.

Time to find a new industry!

I'm having a similar problem with BC except the first design got turned down, no reasons were given to me why but there seemed to be alot of conduit in the courtyard to produce enough of an eye problem. This BC stuff sucks big time, I applied for fiber 11 months ago, got my order cancelled because the transition of a new BC Manager did not do a proper hand over and then once design got submitted they turn it down. New design is apparently with the chairman, I've lost all hope and now I might have to go to Vodafone for FibreX

Are you allowed to attach a cable externally to the apartment and have it penetrate the outside walls? I suppose similar question for a sky dish? check your rules, as they only way downer can connect is direct to apartment, implying you give consent on behalf of the owner. There is no reasonable mdu system for cable except.... lots of cable.

Not sure but it could be worth the check. The main problem is its an apartment complex with a courtyard smack in the middle and the cabinet is all the way on the other side of the complex, we are really just a townhouse backing on to the apartment complex but with all the wiring coming from the cable room on the other side of the apartment. Our place previously had Vodafone cable and is eligible for the 3 day install and looks like it came with it as theres 2 pairs of sat connection points in opposing corners of the living room. I've just done another fiber order with BigPipe so I may hold off until end of Feb.
