@michaelmurfy:

evilonenz at-least your example is straight:

to be fair, if you didnt require them to install it in your back yard, they probably would have had less room to do that!

Just straighten it up yourself, flick of paint and i'd say that's an excellent install..

I guess my main concern is that the ducting that isn't buried, will move over time and pop out. The contractors (who I have no issues with) suggested top soil on top of it, however, it's pretty soft and wouldn't really prevent buckling from pushing the conduit in the open air. I am not sure how much of an issue that actually is in the first place. I just don't want to end up with the install causing issues a couple of years from now and Chorus basically putting it back onto me.

The concern top soil on top of conduit is that in heavy rain the soil will just get washed away. 1st world problems I guess.

Hi.

So, it went pretty well. It's all completed. They did what they said they would and were done by 5pm. They provided proof they had supplied me conduit at their cost which was nice of them. I'd have expected to pay something on top.

All in all I am very happy with it, though I only wish they could have put the conduit deeper down. In some places it's barely 80mm and there is about 8-10m where it's above ground. We will try and bury it ourselves. I understand their reasons for not doing it though.

I have had an excellent experience, they didn't muck around, communication was good, workmanship was reasonable and they ensured we were operational before leaving. I'd rate the entire process a 9/10

BTW the conduit they used seemed pretty tough to me. He demonstrated with a bit and smashed a rake he had against it with considerably force and it didn't leave a mark. It wouldn't survive a lawn mower, but you'd have to be pretty determined to break it otherwise.
