While looking into this I notice this:

https://www.chorus.co.nz/prezzy-offer

Which suggests if you get a new chorus connection you might be in line for a $400 prezzy card which covers 2/3 of a year's internet.

We used to have Skinny prepaid wireless at our bach which worked fairly well - until those holiday periods when every man and his dog stays with us and uses all the included data. But it was handy being able to suspend it when we weren't there for extended periods.

I then upgraded to fibre a few years ago and have never looked back. It suits us to always have working internet as we now have a CCTV/alarm system so we can monitor the property remotely. Yes paying full price every month is a minor annoyance, but the convenience of turning up on a whim (either us, or friends) and having full speed working internet without having to shag around cannot be underestimated.

Currently on the 300Mbps plan which is probably overkill for our needs, but it just works whether there are 2 people staying, or 20...

I know I'm incredibly privileged to own a bach (or in my case, 1/3rd of a bach with 2 of my friends), so I really can't bitch about the running costs. Internet at the bach is a discretionary item on top of a discretionary item (discretionary squared???).

Thanks. Maybe this will get year 1 over the line.
