Nah, it's a dead end that residents only use. We have had road repairs and never had traffic management before.

Besides, the main reason I'm looking into this is getting someone to do the trenching is to expensive and I would do this myself. So either way there will be no need for chorus traffic management

Trenching and installing the conduit yourself will save a bit, but don't expect it to cut the price by a massive amount.
What's your budget if you go ahead this anyway? I get the feeling if you think $14,000 is too much, then the cost for yours will be too high as well.

Being a dead end street and having no reason for the public to use it doesn't come into play. If the road can be accesses by the public, it will need traffic management. Its a legal health and safety requirement and they can't simply turn a blind because there shouldn't be anyone there.

Yeah Im leaning towards Starlink or something. 14k for just myself is not reasonable. The whole road was 80k and that would be $7k each (if I could get everyone on board)

The service still has to be connected and its not a matter of simply tapping in as you believe. GPON architecture consists of a fibre run from each premise back to splitter in cabinet/exchange, if spare capacity doesn't exist then it has to be built.

Have you asked your neighbours if they would be interested in contributing? Maybe a community upgrade where you all contribute something towards it (and all reap the rewards) might be more viable than trying to do it all on your own.

Moot point since Im not getting chorus to do it, and the trencher Im looking at can just run down the side off the road.

Either way, it would be a minimal need.

Its not my assumption, the guys who quote us the $80k to trench and connect said it won't be an issue and had checked it all out. The road next to us made the same enquiries (not sure to who) and go the same story so it sounds like spare capacity exists at least at the time of equiry.

I have, but a few people have done their own thing already. Satallite, 4G fixed wireless with boosters, Starlink, some even think 5G will save them (lol) and others are just not phased. So hence looking for just myself now.

It seems most of the community has gone to other means as mine at 5Mbps is probably one of the best, so those who had worse have already found options with things like fixed wireless, satellite etc. Not a bad idea though but I think people would rather the effort go into fibre.

I would just ask your provider for a quote - every single situation is different, and Geektastic's neighbours' situation will have little to no bearing on what yours may cost.
