I feel like one of those cancels the other one.

Yes correct - at this stage we are working to get the fibre installation completed as soon as possible. Our network team is in direct contact with the OP Chris, and are working hard to deliver a temporary fibre solution before the long weekend if possible. They will then return to complete the permament connection later (this requires a Works Access Permit from council to complete a road crossing which is currently awaiting approval).

Good this is being solved. Last thing we need is some luddites saying that this is what happens with copper decommissioning etc.

It's my understanding that @brickman14nz was finally connected to fibre by his RSP this morning. I have sent him a message to confirm his issue is resolved and am now awaiting a response, but his connection appears to have traffic so I think from here on he will be golden.

Chris definitely appears to have been a casualty of a chain of unique circumstances - bad timing of a weather event, a complex copper repair, which ultimately became impossible due to copper withdrawal/PSTN shutdown, mixed in with a change of service company handling the fibre installs in the area. I think if any one of the above events or circumstances hadn't happened, getting connected would have been more easy and swift.

Thanks for your patience Chris :)

That's good to hear Simon, well done getting this sorted. Is this a rare or uncommon situation, or are there any learnings from this that could be applied in the future?

A huge thanks go to Simon for singlehandedly driving this successful resolution, can confirm I now have working internet!

Not sure what I would have done without you to be honest and your colleague who went out of her way to provide her mobile and assist me in every step where processes broke down.

It's been an interesting experience moving house for the first time in 12 years and not sure I would want to do the same again for at least another decade! You forget how limiting it is to not have fast internet, FWP for sure, but without Simon and this forum I think I'd still be stuck in call centre hell ;-)
