No idea... No contacts with Apple in New Zealand and even if I had they wouldn't disclose this.

probably not untill our population grows by 300% as it is right now it is not cost efficient for apple which i think is sad for a multinational to do ie: offer a different type of service depending on population and geographical location i personally think it stinks why should we be forced to pay U.S. dollars when we obviously don't live in america

NO!! they are plenty strong enough

COST is a major contributing factor as is availabilty you only need look at Microsoft windows vista at release in new zealand the cost for vista ultimate was no much shy of a thousand dollars meanwhile in the U.S they paid less than 500 bucks

3: Do you think the government?s new policy on termination of internet accounts will work?
probably not why because the next ISP wont give a fart and will happily sign you up and start taking your money every month

4: Do you pay attention to the copyright notices on content, and do you follow the correct procedure to get authority of usage? (by contacting the license owner, or company representing the owner)

only as far as public sharing is concerned i don't upload my content but i certainly dont ask if i can rip it to my computer after all i payed for the disk it came on there for whats on it is mine to do with what i will within limits say P2P/Torrenting well thats outside the limit

4:If films were available for download without DRM, in high quality, at the same time as a DVD release (hell, why not also ask 'at the same time as a theatre release?), at a lower price point than a DVD (to reflect the lower cost of manufacturing, production and distribution), would you still illegally download film?
probably not as long as it didn't take a month to d/l it's gotta be high speed downloads

You are getting around measures put in place to stop people outside of the US from downloading the content.
How is this different from downloading from anywhere else? The TV stations here in NZ miss out on ad revenue either way.

I am not breaking any technological protection measures as per our copyright laws. My account was open with a valid U.S. credit card while in the U.S.

Very different. First you have to understand that copyright laws are not created to protect the business of TV stations and cinemas. Copyright laws are create to protect the intelectual property and the rights of content creators. Very different things.

Though you are breaking the terms and conditions for using the US iTunes store:

Purchases or rentals (as applicable) from the iTunes Store are available to you only in the United States, its territories, and possessions, and are not available in any other location. You agree not to use or attempt to use the iTunes Store from outside of the available territory. Apple may use technologies to verify such compliance.

Having broken the terms of sale, does that make the copyright license you bought under it null and void? If so, you may very well be breaking copyright law.

Who, me? No I don't have a U.S. iTunes account. I'm just saying that using a US iTunes account from NZ does not appear to be a legal means of obtaining TV shows.

I think that in this age where the internet has enabled consumerism to go global, the idea of granting and denying access based on country borders is nuts. But I can also see the other edge of the sword with this kind of thinking: the harmonization of copyright law across the world, through the export of US laws like the DMCA.

I think NZ law generally speaking may allow you to bypass artificial regional limitations eg: parallel importing, region free dvd players etc. I'm not 100% sure how it works with itunes though.

ive never really respected the various stats saying"piracy costs the entertainment industry billions blah blah blah"
for 1 thing it seems that the entertainment industry is far from starving
and for another if you were to put those individuals with hundreds of downloaded movies in an alternate reality where you can only see movies on via dvd, tv or at the cinema i honestly dont think they would have seen half of them and the performers wouldnt be half as famous.
now im not condoning piracy, im just saying i dont think it has the impact that some would have us believe

It's one of the highest grossing movies of all time in the Cinema

However it was also the most pirated movie (dvd rip) in 2008 (via bit torrent) downloaded around ~7,030,000 times in that year.

What the studios should be learning from this is that people are willing to pay for the scarce good, you know the full experience of watching the movie on the big screen at the cinema. They however are not stupid are are not willing to pay for an infinite good (a digital copy of a movie) which has a marginal cost of production of almost zero.

In basic economics it's fairly well established regardless of what you invest intially to make something, if you good can be duplicated for no cost people are going to realise it and not be willing to pay that price.

This is the reality of content production in the 21st century, if you don't have a scarce good that has a real marginal cost (and benefit) you aren't going to be able to continue to keep charging for distribution of an infinite good.
