True but the point is that the situation in e.g. Eastern Europe is pretty good. They don't stick to the legacy (copper) but install new fiber, they don't have regulations that make everything standstill, the incumbents aren't running the show, etc. They move forward despite having little resources and low salaries, sometimes it's the only alternative.
Of course a random house in the rural areas may not get fiber nor VDSL but it's the same everywhere.
A bit OT anyway but to point out a guy moving from Eastern Europe to either Australia or NZ might be shocked by the broadband down under, and vice versa :-)
