I asked for interleaving to be turned off also, but was told by James at HD that Chorus are not currently allowing it.

Interleaving isn't the evil thing many people make it out to be, it depends entirely on what the interleaving buffer is set to in ms. If set to something low it'll only increase RTT by around 5ms but has the advantage of minimising burst noise.

There was an option to have it turned off in the online sign-up page. HD confirmed that this was what happened in the first few lines of their confirmation e-mail to me:

Product/Service: HD - Naked VDSL2 - Special - Naked VDSL2 - 100GB
New Connection: No - Churn from another provider
Rural Connection?: No
Site Wiring?: No
Interleaving?: Off
Do you need a VDSL modem?: No

networkn: I am not 100% sure what iss what but I think your rates are too low. I had heard minimum install speeds were 25mbit. IE if you couldn't get over that, they wouldn't install. I believe something is hinky with your wiring, I had a nail through the newly installed cable and was only getting 25, they reran the cable and I went to 70Mbit from 440M from the exchange.

So the problem was at their end in the end?

Thanks for the screen shots. This was a big help as there were a few options I had to guess, so I just used the same ones you use.

The problem appears to have been at their end, but as mentioned before, it was solved. At one point they had to "nuke" my account and start over.

I took another look at the wiring on the ceiling of the garage. It looks like a clean wiring job with no kinks in the cable, which is nailed to the joists with plastic tabs. The only potential problem I can see is that the cat 5e cable runs parallel to a 230 V cable for a length of about 1 metre, spaced about 4 cm apart. This wasn't such an issue with ADSL2+, but maybe it is for VDSL2.

from what i understand, only unleash are selling Vdsl speeds above 50Mb. When i got vdsl months ago from snap they told me at that stage my profile couldnt be changed becuase of a telecom restriction. my sync speeds are 47/9.5 on 8b.

is this still the case?

I've been told the same by Unleash too. Customer has 49Mbps sync.
