How is he handling unsubscribe requests if he is blankly shoving peoples email addresses into BCC anyway? I would have thought that sorting out your mailing list software would come ahead of actually sending the emails out.

Isn't it against the TOS for Slingshot to host such a server on a home connection?

Also why has he stopped replying?

[Insert something about crying a river]

To operate in the Internet industry one needs the support of most of their customers and at least some of their industry peers. I don't see either here.

In this case I think the spamming is the major issue. Their business model won't even be a starter....

I would have to agree with netwrokn. This has been fairly well bashed and the hosting provider has had a lot of negative feedback and doesnt need more on the same topic.

No? Well here is some more.

Thought I would reply thanking them for the spam and see where it went. I get back thanks for replying and a ticket number for my request. What request? Oh actually there was one - something to to do with travel.

I, too, am all for startups. But there has been zero thought in to this particular new venture. Shabby, thoughtless website with no contact information. Appalling spelling/grammar befitting a giddy schoolgirl and her "smartfhn"..

You cant just decide to run a business and expect everyone to give you free advice - you need help yourselves sometimes. And not one, but 6 spammy emails from this guy means that, already, he needs to shut it down - think about it then try again...

Been away from the thread for awhile but it's great to see it appear so high in Google Search results.

I've submitted a complaint to dnc.org.nz and they are looking into all this.

I am trying to give the guy the benefit of the doubt, his name servers now have separate IP addresses although one is shared with his www webserver.
A quick google for Zane Toms though brings up a trademe type business called freelister which he seemingly advertised by spamming the trademe message boards and facebook. It would seem it is also gone now.

Maybe he is good and can make a go of it and I hope he can. Just learn to advertise better maybe.

Even on FB, publicly announcing a message that is full of spelling errors - seems he still hasn't taken Networkn's advice for a professional appearance.
Appearance is everything, even if you're a selling a turd. smile
