Yeah confirmed this last night right before leaving the office, on both Urban and Rural DSLAMs under the trial, forgot to post as i was running out the door!

Correct me if I'm wrong about any of this... it looks like the primary benefit of vectoring is reducing the effect of crosstalk, i.e. interference caused by high concentration of ADSL/VDSL use. Presumably then there's little long-term benefit to rolling it out in urban centres that are already or are going to be served by UFB, as the majority of people will (eventually) migrate to UFB, meaning crosstalk organically becomes less and less of an issue. It will be easier to justify the expenditure in rural areas which will rely on VDSL for the foreseeable future.

Just the same... if Chorus feels like doing a pilot run in an urban area, I nominate my pocket of Mt Albert. We're not getting UFB for another 2.5 years, and there is heavy VDSL uptake. My house is in a block of 7, and all 7 of us have VDSL. 80% of my street has VDSL. I suspect this is in large part why I get 7mbps upstream despite a short (8dB attenuation) run to the cabinet.

So I was updates overnight and I've seen a drop in Upstream but an improvement in downstream

Looking at a couple of connections that I've seen, about a 30% drop in upstream sync rate on ADSL over night, with a much smaller increase in downstream sync rate.

When you're taking a 1Mb/s sync rate, a 30% drop is pretty significant.

Pretty sure it isn't out yet, and your seeing an unrelated resync there.

I'd disagree with @runningman's results based on all the lines i've profiled here and the logic behind much of the changes.

Seen a couple of lines with a noise margin of about 6dB on the downstream (Chorus), even with several re-syncs, so something's happening differently. @openmedia's line above is the same, showing a 6.5dB margin - not the usual 12dB

i'd agree something is happening, but not 100% sure on if they have actioned this as i have not seen a clear cut case today yet.

I do note a large dip in @openmedias power, which would result in the change in upstream speeds there...

I'm in the Kapiti area so in the first wave (I assume). And had internet reset overnight and my sync rate hasn't really changed. normal was bout 40meg down / 10.4 up. currently 41,4 / 12,7 Mbit. But I think further configuration is still planned. To be honest I'm perfectly happy with what I have but interested to see if it improves much.

Have seen a few interesting examples of changes over lines.

There are a few that have had quite negative effects to them, however all this seems to be settling down.

Will keep monitoring - I did pickout the worst of the batch within a certain BGN area

Initial numbers looked concerning, some lines reauthing upwards of 200 times in a day, however this actually appears to be concentrated within the normal DLM change period (4~5am) so effectwise not as bad.

Won't get to check auth data till i get into the office, but seeing lines go back to stable is great.
