Hi Richms,

I have been on VDSL for a couple of months now. In that time, DLM and then ddDLM have made quite a few profile changes (mostly speed increases which is good). However my latency is always around 19 - 20ms regardless of the different speed profiles. Just an observation.

19 is inline with 8/8. Which is normal. Dlm has 1ms, 8ms and 16ms profile options to put you onto. (Eachway)

You will never get the advertised speeds over wifi. Even if you're downloading a file off a machine on your network, you'll probably only get around 30 Mbps.

That's only true if you have a dodgy gear. I can get 200/200Mbps over WiFi, and there's a wall between me and the router (HG659).

Some changes there. Interleaved but still a 9dB margin so not sure if just resync for the sake of it to put it on terrible latency, or ddDLM happening.

Getting 23ms across the link now, Sigh. Chorus tech tomorrow at 3 so wonder how long it will be till I get back on a proper latency. Good thing im not really gaming anymore.

I woke up to interleaving a couple of days ago too. Sync speeds improved slightly at the same time (67/12 to 68/14). I figure it's just part of DLM doing its thing after the big change. I'm sure the interleaving will disappear on its own as long as the line remains stable.

It could be equipment-related. I could only get around 3/4 of my actual line speed using the wifi on my Spark-supplied Technicolour VDSL modem/router, even when I right beside it with no walls in between. When I replaced it with an ASUS RT-AC68U router (bridged to aforementioned Technicolour) I instantly got almost exactly the same speeds on every wifi device all over the house as I was getting on the ethernet-connected ones. The guy who sold it to me warned that I might not get any improvement, but in my case it was substantial.

Whats to say that wall is not solid iiridium?

Wireless is a conveyance feature and only as good as the hardware at both ends..... And the environment around it...

Rural Boost VDSL connection fed from an exchange. ~370m exchange to demarcation point. Was getting 30-35 / 7.5-8 before and now getting 58-63 / 22-23.

one thing i note, your SNR is riding low. you may see a bit of a dip on a resync there.

As the original poster I was so happy but overnight I dropped back to 8b. This may have been due to a power cut but the line was a bit dodgy yesterday as well. Sorry to post my Q in two threads but if I leave this alone will the DLM eventually bump me back up to 17a?

No change here yet. Restarted the modem and still sitting around 22/1.

I know I'm probably borderline for VDSL (central Auckland), so not sure this change will help me at all.
