Here's the speed on my NOW connection. Same 900/500 speed advertised.

To answer why I picked NOW for the curious, was entirely the price. 2degrees were charging $110 per month for this speed, while NOW charge $99 usually (I am on a promotional price).

Doesn't seem like a lot, but I live in a student flat where we've just come under some financial issues (flatmates moved out so we each have to pay bigger chunks of the bills).
Also I didn't know NOW used CG-NAT, I'm not surprised given it seems most are at this point but knowing that ahead of time would've been handy (had a static IP with 2degrees because of CG-NAT issues).

michaelmurfy: Going off-topic but I seriously don't understand the appeal of NOW.

Great local support and in home tech setup - This is great for the senior citizens who the CGNat and lack of international transit is not an issue

Domestic and tasman is fine

Might also be worth noting there aren't many good servers in USA for testing to.

They just aren't configured well for long distance ramping.
2d have a pretty solid deployment that they have repeated.

Depending on where, how and the capacity on both sides. You likely won't see quite as solid as 2d results. It's simply a factor of being on net...

The poor speeds I originally posted are being investigated by Voyager. It seems many others on Voyager are getting much better (normal) speeds but for some reason I am not.

I started the thread so if you go to the first post you will see some of my results.

EDIT: I have just tried it again and have gotten better results (around 200mbs on a 200mbs connection)

Can you try download this file (datacenter in AZ) and let me know what you get? Previously I was getting 25 kbs, as I write this it has stabilized to around 3.4 mbs.

That download is horrible, its averaging about 12mbps on my connection.

ah my bad, that file might be capped at 100mbs, which would mean you are getting the max speed. Meanwhile I am getting less than a 1/4 of that :(

That is full speed (as full speed as crippled 200/100) can be at just under 150 mega bits on vocus

For context, my connection sits at about 150-200mbit upstream utilization normally.. so it's pretty solid here...

oh, and no issues with sydney.

@nzpaul

Can you please confirm the following:

1) You have run the command as specified on this post assuming you're using Windows: https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=49&topicid=280400&page_no=1#2620745
2) What router are you using? "Gigabit Capable" doesn't actually mean it'll route Gigabit properly.

As I can't replicate your problem on two Voyager connections (nor can @hio77) and if you're still getting these issues I am thinking this isn't a Voyager problem, but a local problem somewhere with your setup.

@michaelmurfy can you please show the results from the speedtests on the voyager connection as my download speeds are find but im not to happy with the uploads.

Chorus Labs, Auckland. Shows the connection and the device is capable of Gigabit speeds (all tests unless mentioned are via speedtest CLI)

2D, Sydney, upload speed is what i could call pretty low

2D, Sydney pretty much back to back with the above 2D one but used the speedtest app in windows 10 bit of a difference there.

Vodafone Sydney, just for context, similar result to the 2D one above

2D LA, again that upload is what i would call pretty poor

Atlantic Metro LA, for some context again upload is pretty poor.

If i can achieve great local speed tests but overseas ones are lacking where does the issue lie? Australia seems fine using the speedtest app but getting slower results on CLI, but anything to the US is slow on the upload.

I want to fix this as trying to upload 500gb of files to cloud storage in the US takes forever. i have also been having this issue for a while now.
