Seems the 2nd generation ONT will not now be generally available until August 2024.
I was waiting but have just now ordered Hyperfibre.

Just out of curiosity, Who did you order it with,
I find the old ONT to be just fine its a shame its not wall mountable but the fact they give you a 2M flexable fibre cable makes it fairly adjustable.

The property that it is ordered for is in the Coromandel. I ordered with Quic as I wanted tail extension to Auckland and Quic use Chorus tail extension for all north island connections and terminate them in Auckland. Chorus tail extension is supposedly part of the Chorus congestion free network, so I should get a good connection to a VPN in Auckland that I connect to.
I have a MikroTik CCR2116-12G-4S+ router that I plan on using with it, so it should handle the PPOE connection ok, although I hope Quic go to DHCP.

Any one had any luck specifically requesting a 2nd gen ONT? I've been waiting to place my order for Hyperfiber but need the ONT to go into a small network closet and the ability to wall mount the ONT like the current one would be much preferred.

Im in the same situation! - waiting since it needs to go into a mid size network cabinet so needs to be wall mounted.

Have you followed up with your respective RSP?
Its still a while off, while we consume the 1st Generation stock first:

Full Launch
As this is based on stock levels depleting, we can’t predict this accurately. We have recently re-forecast and the full launch has moved from what we had previously advised. This is likely to happen as early as August 2024, but this is subject to change. The changes made for the soft launch are all that are required for the full launch so once that is done then you should be ready from a systems perspective.
Seems this is going to be rather circular, the people who "need" hyperfibre are willing to wait for the new ONT, so the stock won't get depleted, and the new ONT, will eventually arrive with old specs, i.e. the 12 month delay.

The 'circular' part is right. Yes. Just order hyperfibre and find a way to make the ONT work for your installation :)
Do people need more measurements/information to understand if it will/wont fit in a particular place? If so - sing out.
The 'old specs' part is probably incorrect - We're a layer 2 wholesaler, so the ONT will be valid now, in 12 months, 24+months, etc.
Unless you expect the 10gbps copper interface is going to evolve into some other thing on the customer side. That, to me, feels unlikely.
My 1st gen HF ont at home is on the back of one of my switches, face down, with the power/network cable sticking up into the empty space behind my patch panels. Fits quite nicely, though it's a pain to get to (not that I ever need to get to it)

The best way for you to get the 2nd gen ONT in your house as fast as possible is to convince all your friends to get the 1st gen installed :)

It would be really helpful if Chorus would provide a PDF containing an outline of the unit and mounting points. It would make planning placement much easier, and avoid a problem I had recently where I left it to the Chorus tech to install the unit where he thought appropriate. He stuck it immediately above the power point in the recessed cabinet, making the power point unusable. He told me to get the electrician to move the power point! I made him move the ONT instead, of course.

Hyperfibre install proved challenging but all up and running now.
I have to say the installer made the installation very difficult.
All working now so am pleased but I suspect this was the first Hyperfibre install the installer has done.
If I need a longer cable than 2m will most Simplex Single Mode SC/APC-SC/APC-G652D cables work?
@Vindy500 There is supposedly a wall mount available for the XS-250WX-A (part 3FE 46917 AA)? Is it available in NZ?
