crazypom: You're all Loo.....ooooooosers!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Loose lips may sink ships - Be smart - Don't post internal/commercially sensitive or confidential information!
freitasm:
There's no conspiracy. Telecom knows that by providing a bad ADSL service people would turn to alternatives, like Woosh or Vodafone (if available in your area).
ace001nz:nzbnw:Well that’s the funniest joke I have heard all year (NOT). Please...... That’s just a load of C#@P.
As I said it's my opinion. Do you have a better explaination of why ADSL in this country has turn to soup in the last couple of months? And I have experienced just how unhappy Telecom are through their billing service. I thought this problem was localised to where I live, but after finding these forums and seeing just how many others are having the same problem as me and my friends I am convinced there is a major problem with the network and Telecom do know about it, they're just not willing to admit it or try and fix it.
Telecom say they have monitored my line for serveral days and have not found any problems with it, yet the tracert's that they told me to perform commonly come back with very bad response times and 99% of the time at the same gateway.
bradstewart:
The problem is suddenly everyone could download at faster speeds but the backhaul remained the same. If you want to know more then search the forums. You can't just use a pathetic excuse like "its Telecoms fault" without backing it up. Thats just lame.
My question to you is... are you related to Annette Presley or do you just hate Telecom because you need somebody to blame all your problems on?

"Still, his autobiography will be coming out shortly which apparently
will be a cracking read but has a sting in the tail at the end.
His favourite kids TV program was Thunderbirds but he always had a soft
spot in his heart for Stingray.
The TV Crew warned him though that he should be using suntan lotion, as
it protects against harmful rays."
What’s happening?
A Telecom equipment or network configuration issue is causing some UBS end users to experience a disruption to their service ranging from a momentary freezing of their screen to loss of Internet connection. Telecom is working with Wholesale customers and conducting extensive investigations to isolate and resolve this issue as quickly as possible.
What is the detail?
While extensive investigations are underway to determine the extent and cause of the problem, Telecom Wholesale can confirm the following:
• There is a fault in the Telecom network which is affecting some UBS end users.
• In broad terms the fault occurs when LSPs (link switch paths) change from the primary path to the secondary path and the L2TP tunnels are lost in the change.
• These effects vary in degree and occur at random.
• At the least this may cause a millisecond pause in the service that is unnoticeable to the end user, at the most, they may be disconnected from the Internet. The latter is resolved by an end user basic modem re-set.
While we are working closely with Wholesale customers who are experiencing problems, it seems some customers have not reported any faults that we can attribute to this issue. There are also unrelated faults that have the same effect. Telecom has committed significant technical resources, including calling in technical experts and dedicated teams from our suppliers, to work on this issue and we will provide you with updates when they come to hand.
What do I need to do?
• A simple modem re-set (switching the modem off and on again) will resolve the issue.
• Please call us on 0800 14 9638 to advise.
Update - Telecom Wholesale can advise that following extensive investigations and mitigation measures, including an upgrade of Telecom’s core network routers, there has been a significant reduction in micro outages. However, while progress has been made in reducing the effects of the fault and in narrowing the field of investigations, work continues in order to isolate the root cause of the problem and fully resolve this issue as quickly as possible.

Damager: Hello :-)
Just out of interest, until last friday i was with wired country Iconz and was with them for 8 months.. never ever had a problem with them.. and then i restarted an old Ihug Wired Country last friday.. i wouldve had in the following weekend.. more authentication timeouts, more connections drops, dns issues than i ever had with Iconz in those 8 months . It was beyond belief!! technical support said the usual.. check modem, its a LOS problem. i said.. this is NOT a wired country problem. Im convinced its a problem with Ihug's software or hardware and although im wireless and there have been recent problems with telecom's adsl. i still think on top of that.. Ihug has issues with its software or hardware.
Its amazing as they keep saying its a WC problem and it isnt! Grrrr. I guess the amazing thing is that its been not bad for a few days.. but more often than not.. its been kak!

Damager: Im convinced it's Ihug software or hardware that contributes to the DNS and connection and authentication problems. When i was with Iconz (wired country) i had stability all the time. With Ihug (wired country) ive had nothing but instability!Try Orcon than... By your thoughts Orcon software and hardware must be not up to scratch either. ))
