Hi, Therk and Pegi what are you line stats from the modem, ie sync rate, line attenuation, noise margin. Those are not the kind of speeds you should get anymore. It could also be a GGI issue.

I am using Cat5e cable from demarcation point and this goes straight to my first jack where only modem is connected to and then it goes to second jack where I have my phone connected through the filter.
Chorus did cable replacement on my street 4-5 month ago and when I was talking to Chorus guy he said from now on I should have pretty good speed but nothing changed since then.
I am guessing I am still connected to Henderson exchange instead of street cabinet just down the road (approx. 200m).

These are my stats:

DSL Connection
Link Information
Uptime:2 days, 23:59:19
DSL Type:ITU-T G.992.5
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]:938 / 2.663
Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [MB/GB]:623,74 / 1,99
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]:12,3 / 16,9
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]:32,1 / 51,5
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]:12,3 / 12,1
System Vendor ID (Local/Remote):TMMB / ----
Chipset Vendor ID (Local/Remote):BDCM / BDCM
Loss of Framing (Local/Remote):0 / 0
Loss of Signal (Local/Remote):2 / 0
Loss of Power (Local/Remote):0 / 0
Loss of Link (Remote):-
Error Seconds (Local/Remote):537 / 3
FEC Errors (Up/Down):22.427 / 74.392
CRC Errors (Up/Down):231 / 326
HEC Errors (Up/Down):725 / 1.482

100% same as you, same distance from exchange, a bit less of a distance from a cabinet and also in West Auckland. Are you in Glendene by any chance?

Also, Ill post my stats up when I come back from Easter holidays, literally going out the door now heh. I really hope its the wiring in my house though. A tech gave me the reason as "the back row of the houses was not connected to ADSL2" which sounds pretty terrible if true. He didn't really seem to know what he was talking about though.

If you are infact connected to the cabinet directly opposite there clearly there is an issue with your connection. Due to the distance the issue is in all liklehood going to be poor internal wiring in your home, so I would suggest you get this checked out.

There are also some brands of modems that don't like low attenution figures (ie when you're too close to an ISAM).

To those who want help - rather than just guessing or assuming whether you're connected to a cabinet or exchange the Chorus SAT will tell you this. There is no need to guess.

I know I was connected to the exchange because the Chorus did some investigation but when they changed the underground cable on my street they told me I will be connected straight to the street cabinet. That's why I am guessing I am still connected to the exchange because of my line stats.
I will have to talk to Telecom again.

Spot on Therk. I am in Glendene.
Cabinet just 200m away is HSN/FA.

I'm guessing you are on the back row of houses too? Barrys road maybe?

We really need to get onto this issue and pester them until they fix it. 1.5 mbit is absolutely unacceptable these days, especially in the largest city in the country and with adsl 2 nearby.
