You absolutely have that right... I hope the Spark rep told you that we (Spark) have no way to influence Chorus investment decisions apart from highlighting where we notice customers are having issues. In your case we wouldn't even think about escalating your case to Chorus or asking them to upgrade the card. You're already getting exceptional xDSL speeds.

Cheers - N

I didn't talk with Spark, since it wasn't a fault/issue. I simply made an enquiry with Chorus if card swap was possible - but despite asking me for all my connection information - their response was:

I've engaged our senior team, and at this stage it looks like we won't be adjusting the VDSL equipment as we're busy with the UFB upgrade. You can still have a chat with your provider about improving connection speeds - asking to speak with a Tier 1 or Tier 2 technician could set up a good channel for you to effectively discuss this.

I just talked to a mate now who is a Chorus contractor who was good enough to inform me that the cards can't be mixed in the ISAM - which I would have been fine with as an answer.

Good information, I never knew that myself. But makes it sense.
Anyway, I feel your pain. being stuck with only 70Mb/s and all.

So my final speed settled with 49mbps DL and 8.9mbps UL. It basically traded 1.1mbps UL for an extra 19mbps DL.

The ping has also settled at 6ms. It was over 16ms straight after the changeover.

give it time for DLM to settle in, dont reboot your connection if possible as that can have adverse effects on it.

it's kind of cool that this is kind of in the "not so great" vdsl connection category.  vodafone are still doing 50/2 for their cable network, but i found speeds were often more like 20 or 30 megabit/sec down with high jitter.

lines like this would probably be a lot better for upload speeds if on 17a.

i doubt it's 400 metres with those speeds.  what's your attenuation like?  adsl info --pbParams if telnetting in.

well these are my line stats atm
and i worked it out with attenuation(6.3) devided by 13.81 which gives you the approximate length in Kms i understand that there are many more factors that can affect attenuation also
