Bung: Maybe the warning labels on the power transformer make it acceptable. Chorus could try slapping a couple of bright yellow Laser warning and buried cable signs on it.
Sideface
KiwiNZ: I somewhat agree that these things are ugly, if or ever UFB ends up in my street, I believe circa 2020 is a remote possibility, that will mean we will have a black box, a green metal box approx 1 Meter high. A grey pole and a green upturned rubbish like thing at the gate.
Grateful that we have underground services and not in an area with those ugly incredibly thick saving VF cable clogging the scenery.

Yeah, that was one of my initial thoughts too. This is what overhead services look like where I lived in Boston (and they don't do it justice):
In the photos, the overhead power services are pretty tame. It's the massive the bundle of Comcast cable & components that blew my mind... Granted it is a built up area, servicing multi-dwelling homes in an area of Boston that is so flat that the view is basically just the other houses down the street and, after a couple of days, you kinda get use to it.
I'd still take the FAT 'green pillar' any day though.
chevrolux:
Wellington isn't far off in that some places with the HFC network. And yet people still think it is a good idea to put these on poles. Best decision Auckland has made was saying no to having HFC on poles.

Yep, 99.9% of GZ users start frothing at the mouth with the thought of accessible fibre on their lawn, but not for the same reason these guys are frothing at the mouth.
