That sounds like an excuse from Orcon. It would surprise me you can have the DSL with Orcon, but not the phone line - it's not like a problem changing cables on DSLAM at this point. Ao I very much doubt it's a Telecom problem.

Telecom does have problems at time moving lines over to NCA (non-coded access) to other providers for various reasons. Sometimes the exchanges don't support the options needed to move the line over to NCA or other features such as callminder etc to another provider or it just doesn't work for some reason at Telecom's end.

Ooops. Sorry for my previous comment. You are right - now I remember of similar cases...

Would it be that my request for the Smartline services add-on is the issue here? And not so much changing provider for the homeline / tolls?

Thanks.

As you probably don't know I too work for Orcon (As Senior Systems Admin). Not knowing your particular case I cannot publicly comment on the problem. Email me directly (email removed) your username and I can email you privately what the actual problem is.

Thanks
Craig

Don't do it! He's an evil monster intent on stealing your megahurtz!

Anyway, I know of several people in Napier that have had no problems getting NCA tolls connected, both with Orcon and other providers. I do however also know a few people in Napier that have had difficulties, but they've always managed to get there in the end with a lot of persistence.

Telecom just get lazy sometimes Tongue out but stick at it and you'll eventually get there... hopefully!

Thanks for the comment and I do plan on being persistent.

[Self-edit]
Craig just replied, the exchange I'm connected to doesn't support NCA. Cry
