Judgeing from the photos (the terminal ones) it appears that there is only 1 tube in there for a conection and that this one has alrady been used (likely for a neigbour) - what the up to two weeks delay will be is for the approval (from design/records) and a job created to get another boundary tube, off the multiway tubeing along the road, connected up so that your connection can be completed (this work isnt done by the installers but by a specialist build team from the local network support company)

The neighbors do have UFB now, that's what I've been told that the green cable is for. The tech told me that all the approval has been done and that the wait time can be reduced by getting the ISP to escalate the issue. I've just been writing about what my installer has been told me, he has stated that they will need to cut out a little bit of concrete to get it out the driveway and for that they need to get a team to have a look at. Sadly, I've been waiting on this install for a while and everything should have been spotted by the spotter on Friday who inspected the driveway and the property which was not told to us. This however does not explain the poor job that was done to get the cable to the house. There are more secure and easier ways to put the cable below the bark and dirt rather than having to hammer it down to a fence that doesn't even belong to me. The team that installed the cable should at least admit to the mistake rather than saying that I gave them consent for it.

For those who wanted an update on this, I had a team come in today to fix up the cable itself and they quickly found that they don't need to install a duct, but they just need to route it differently. After a month of waiting and three escalations later this is what it looks like. Hopefully I get fibre connected to the house next week or even tomorrow.

Still on the fence but on the very bottom of it tho, I found out that the fence is shared and we can do whatever we want on our side apaprently. I didn't want to bury it as I have planted stuff in that spot and the tech told me that they need to bury it at least 600mm under the ground which would damage the roots of the plants there.

Lol... now it's at a pefect spade hitting level. Wouldn't want to be doing any gardening in there now, that little tiny tube will be wrecked after it's first hit with a spade.

It's in a black cover, if you look at my original pictures you will know what I mean. The guy said that the cable is really durable and should be able to take a hit or 2 without an issue. The only way i can damage the cable is if I open the pillar and smash the green tube there :D

Excellent job done both externally [duct under concrete] and internally

That said it was obvious the tech from Transfield [sub to Chorus] was onto it and good and went the extra mile. I only have praise for the work that Chorus has done at my place.

Mine you I was there for all 4 hours of the install to provide oversight. The only gotcha was they don't carry UTP crimping tools with them !

Here is the result just now

Lucky you. I'm in Wellington and I'm still waiting.

I've had two visits from Chorus so far. The second was with a Wellington Electricity contractor on 22 December and they still haven't done the WE paperwork yet. According to Chorus "Wellington Electricity is on leave until 12 January" so I'm hoping they will approve use of the power poles some time next week.

What is really frustrating is that the Chorus contractor on visit no 2 told me they had 6 crews sitting around waiting for work and Chorus is not sending anything through.

Oh well, at least it is a nice weather in Wellington and my outside jobs are progressing well.

That is quick.

Wellington Electricity are involved because the ducting job is run from the powerpole to our house. They have to give permission to use the powerpole and they are also involved in the ducting installation.

I haven't seen anyone from Transfield, the guy who came to scope the job and the guy who came with the power guy were both from Downers. Our request went in to Chorus around 24th November. It took a week or two of pushing from our ISP to have Chorus even admit they have fibre outside our house. The network capability map still says June 2015.

I'm doing better than my neighbour, he is trying to get Vodafone to install fibre. He currently has ADSL with them. Twice he has been told the order has been placed and both times Vodafone claim to have no record of it when he follows up. He is pushing brown stuff up hill though as he is in a Vodafone cable area. He keeps talking about leaving Vodafone but does nothing. :)

WEL because of Aerial work off their poles - each pole of theirs used for a UFB conection requires individual checking by WEL for persmision to add additional hardware

BTW Downers do most of the Wgtn area installs apart from a few exch areas that were assigned to Transfeild by Chorus as part of a trial and @ the time to help share the load of the number of installs backing up in the wgtn region.

If you wanted to run your own UFB conduit from the street to your house what would people recommend?

At least if you do it you know it will be done to at least your standard.

If in a Chorus Area

Else if practical, in a blow fibre distribution area, the installion teams can and will shallow trench the 'ruggadised' tubeing across lawn etc
