joker97: I take it then Tim is staying put in that case

I'm reasonably confident that his 7 series BMW would be out of place. Mosgiel and Outram only allow 5 series and below

Here (Mosgiel) its 200 Mpbs by Jun 2016. What difference will winning Gigatown make ?

Pity about Outram 5 Mbps for ever.  frown

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

Maybe it's just me but there's so few times I can actually justify paying more to have higher than a 30/10 connection, maybe downloading a huge backup from OneDrive or uploading my initial data, downloading a game on release etc but that's it. 30 megabit speeds are more than fast enough for my use, I mean it's roughly 12GB an hour if you can get close to maxing it out.

I think I'll be jumping on the discounted lower tier plans rather than gigabit options and saving $10 a month over current options.

I see on the Vodafone community they are saying they won't be offering Gigabit internet in Dunedin

"...the internet cant really go much faster for now"... really? well not if you don't offer any faster plans it wont. I thought the idea of Dunedin Businesses and homes all connected together and able to share files and video around between them was the point (ok marketing was the point, but you know what I mean)

That quote is from a Vodafone staff member, not an official Vodafone spokesperson. The NBR posted our official response:

"Vodafone spokesman Brad Pogson says his company is preparing a one gig service for Dunedin home and business customers. He notes his company already provides a 200Mbit/s service."

Snap's address checker tells me I can get Gigatown service at my address (Mosgiel, Dunedin) while if I choose another address that has Fibre but is out of Dunedin it will not let select the Gigatown service.

$95 a month is a fantastic price, I'll ask in the Snap forum how long the offer goes for as I have an uphill battle to allow Fibre to be installed at home

That's the problem with "communities" on an official site. If a member of the staff posts something, it's gospel - customers can't distinguish between official and personal. I didn't see the post but if the person is marked as "Vodafone Staff"...

Yep looks pretty official to me, full of marketing speak and suchlike. It looks almost exactly like a pre-prepared press statement

me thinks they might have had a change of mind after the left hand spoke to the right....
