That is so mickey mouse. According to Chorus' own requirements, each premises must have its own separate lead-in conduit.

How the hell did your one ever happen I wonder?

Because our properties used to be one, and they were subdivided I'm guessing.

I wonder if this could be another channel for you to push. Legislation allows you to push for dedicated copper. If they won't install UFB make them put separate copper to your house then once that's completed you'll have UFB easy.

Possibly. I just talked to them and they said "thanks for getting in touch, We're currently touching base with our consents team to find out if we can validate your address as an single dwelling unit. All going well you may be able to place a new order. We'll let you know as soon as we hear back. ^SC"

Here's hoping..

If they do come down the drive and need to dig, ask them to bring the biggest noisiest machine they have and leave it running :)

And ask them to take their time!

But chances are they're gonna staple the fibre to your fence :(

I guess you can give them the option, dig to put copper, or fibre. Their call.

.......... Chrous sent a consent form to our neighbour, and as we expected, she didn't sign it.

TL;DR: Our neighbour won't consent to UFB due to certain reasons, and we suffer for it as our internet and phonelines cut out multiple times a day.

Have you asked her what those reasons are? And if so, what reason did she give? I am curious what you mean by "certain" reasons?

I already said it above. Because she's not the best neighbour (to put it nicely). She grows ivy on our shared fence and lets her dogs out which have bitten us.

I've nothing useful to offer outside of what has already been suggested but do have an off-topic question - why have you put up with her dogs biting you? If a dog bit me, or any of my family members, it would be the last thing it did.

Sounds nasty. Maybe be nasty back. Just to equal things. If she gets anse, tell her all can be resolved by consenting. The dog might be a complaint, the ivy might be? Sad to say, but perhaps stopping to her level may help. Do you and her own or rent?

Re the dog ... What is the threshold at which they're euthanized? What penalty for biting?

I would suggest this requires a visit to disputes tribunal if theres no alternative way of running the cable. Your relationship with her can't get much worse so why not. However you have your own driveway so there must be an alternative cable route, and worth following up on that with your internet provider any way you can.

In the mean time, have you checked whether a master filter/splitter would improve your DSL problems?

Time to find a new industry!

I am honestly pretty disappointed at the ongoing negative comments toward spiteful action toward the neighbour. Whilst I can understand the frustration caused by such response to a seemingly difficulty free infrastructure upgrade, I know a lot of elderly people fear the impact things like this have. They don't have the confidence or ability to deal with any issues that MAY arise.

This is really something your landlord should be resolving. There are other avenues, and thankfully the OP seems to be ignoring most of these comments.

Come on guys, let's grow up shall we? Constructive advice is always welcome. I would hate to hear of people discussing such things of my own Grandmother regardless of how difficult it may appear from the outside, she was being.
