Ours has been updated to 1/1/2014, was 2/1/2014 a month ago lol

It's worth noting if you're are in UFF areas that the data set is updated monthly.

It's quite common to see dates on a specific address change several times over several months.

If you're in Tauranga, feel free to use our address checker. We update it monthly - and note the date of update on our UFB page. We're loading the latest dataset tomorrow.

I'm still by June 2016 *sigh*. I can walk to the end of my driveway and I'm 10 seconds from where it's available on foot.

I will never move to a place right on a boundary between exchanges ever again.

But I will be definitely moving to a UFB area well before 2016.

Chorus map tool says March 2014, but there's a Chorus UFB notice at the end of our street saying that they're installing ducting between July and September.

We received our Enable branded Weetbix box in the mail yesterday proudly telling us that fibre is now available in our street and to head to their website to find a provider. The two residential providers listed on Enable (Snap and Orcon) both still show our address as coming soon. Anybody know how long it takes for the providers database to be updated to reflect Enables?

Otagolad, we have not done anything yet to prepare. We are not intending to be in our house for more than another few years and currently have simple needs internally so we will be doing a basic install until needs change. The current plan is an install in a hall cupboard with a single Cat5 connection to the lounge where a Wifi access point will be situated. That's sufficient for us at present.

Kingjj - we received our "Weetbix" over the weekend as well. I called Snap and they were able to process my "order/sign-up" notwithstanding their online address checker isn't uptodate so just give them a call - install in 5-10 workings days so pretty excited.

Have gone with the 100/50 plan with a 500gb add-on (total 600gb), and with data usage in the early hours not counting I should just about be OK

(work is paying so what the hell). Took the 2 year plan to get the free Fritzbox as its not like I'm going anywhere (although the plan can be cancelled after 12 months for a $150 fee so really is just a 13 month contract). Just received text saying Fritzbox is ready to pick-up so will shoot off there now.

Question re the Fritzbox - I'm intending on turning off the wireless on the Fritzbox (will be just a modem and VOIP hub) and using my Asus RT-AC66U for wireless and LAN routing. Will I have to do anything special in regards to the Asus router - I've heard mention of people doing VLAN Tagging but will that be necessary if the Fritzbox sits in the middle acting as the "modem" like in my current setup where I have a D-Link ADSL2 modem with one ethernet cable out to the Asus router?

As far as the install is concerned, I've had my Father-in-law around (electrician who does network cabling for commercial and residential) and he's installed a switch panel with UPS and run Cat6 to my office - unfortunately the rest of the house will be quite tough to cable so will need to wait until renovation time. One interesting thing will be how the security company gets on installing an IP monitored panel as that is likely going to take a bit of ingenuity with the wiring so will get the Father-in-law onto that in the next couple of days.

Will post some picks once UFB installation is done or in respect of the installation if I'm at home when they come if anyone is interested.

Currently being installed down my street :D should be ready by September! Can't even comprehend 50Mbit/s uploads versus what I get on ADSL! Don't think I'll have to worry about upload times for large wave and tiff files much longer...

In Miramar, Wellington and my wife saw two guys lurking on the street today. She thought one looked dodgy so she asked them what they were up to. They said that they were from Chorus, looking at the UFB install for our street.

She had no idea what either of those things were, so she just related the story to me.

I think she is kinda weirded out by my big grin.

We just moved house not to a UFB area but there is business fibre according to chorus' map.

Does anyone now if this is available to residential users or if it will eventually become a part of UFB like the fibre subdivisions?

I get really confused between the Chorus Maps and ISP UFB availability.

According to Chrous, my address has been assigned as available for UFB since the end of May 2013. However when shopping around for ISPs, non of them can sign me up because there database shows that it's not available. Then the ISP then has to request to do a manual enquiry to Chrous for further information, which takes about 1-2 business days (or two weeks depending on which ISP you speak to).

Currently only one of the many ISP's I have spoken can confirm the UFB can be ordered for my address. The rest come back with "negative for NGA (UFB)". What the heck could be going on?

I'm in a "Multi-dwelling building" and I've already sent of the "Chorus Consent Form" to my building owner, but I can't imagine that's what make chorus returns back a status of "NGA"????

If I speak to Chorus directly they say no problems here, talk to your ISP to place and order. Arrrggg.

How often does Chorus update there database and have it distributed to all the ISP?
