Wow, looking at those stats it's no wonder you've never had any internet problem. At a guess, you're within 100m or so of your cabinet (very close), and that connection is one of the best you can get for ADSL. Even if it has been pulling the speed back, it's exceptionally good.

:-)  Yes, the cabinet is just across and down the road, probably 50 meters away. It will be interesting to see if, now I am leaving the modem on all the time , the speed gets even better.

I am curious though as to what would be considered good noise levels for the actual phone line?

Just one thing

Old mobile phones are not compatible with new 4g frequencies that mobile providers are using.

My iPhone 5S can have very iffy coverage where the iPhone 7 shows full bars of 4g. That's with Skinny/Spark.

Solution - iPhone 5S now a relic in the museum

Hi, this could depend on the model iPhone 5S you have and where you - coverage . Some models (A1457 and A1530) may not support the all LTE 1800 MHz, LTE 900 MHz or LTE 700 MHz signals used for 4G - What do I need to get 4G on 2degrees?

I am sure none of the iPhone 5S supported band 28 700Mhz used in New Zealand only the USA 700Mhz band plan ( Can't remember band plan number)

you have pretty much maxed out adsl2+, i think.

i get a bit worse than that on vdsl due to my location. bring on fibre.

I think your still getting ahead of yourself worrying about red light failures.

Its far more likely to have that with copper.
Your issue seems to be all around being unable to raise a fault if something goes wrong... But if you copper went bad you would be in the same issue.

Worse even as cpe checks would be the first thing faults will want to run through with you.

If cost is a factor, given the increase in copper price you may be better moving to the cheaper connection that is fibre.
