bradstewart: I measured until 1am. The results were the same if not worse. It was fine all yesterday untill tea time. I've been on 3.5 Mbps for 3 or 4 weeks and the lowest speed i had was 3.1. I can see where people have had problems ever since they changed plans, but its weird that mine which has been working fine all along suddenly go from one extreme to the other.
bradstewart: The end of the affair with thepotatoADSL
tonyhughes: Ran some speed tests using Linux and Windows, and got surprisingly different results.
I have blogged about it and perhaps its worth some further investigation. My testing wasnt very scientific (again), but there is something there to look closer at (i.e. Linux giving me massively better downloads than XP).
I have heard before that *nix systems perform better on the net, I know my Mandrake did when I had Dialup.
Anyone tried it out with osx86? Will try if I can get my ethernet going. Fingers crossed.
Have you tried it out with a live cd?
