Try the app. I'm not sure if you have to have an account with them or not, but logging a support issue in the app is pretty easy and I've found them to be responsive.

I am finding it difficult to get official information on Starlink resellers and approved installers  in NZ
Is there a website that lists these?
Is there such as thing as a approve installer?

I have read that 2 degrees and Noel Leeming are the first resellers but install services are not mentioned (as I'd expect).

Any ideas welcome.
The requirement is probably sites through out the country.

There are no official "approved" installers, just people like me around the country that can install. I tend to cover Waikato, BoP, Auckland and lower Nothland; sometimes further too.

Rural IT and Broadband support.

Broadband troubleshooting and master filter installs.
Starlink installer - one month free: https://www.starlink.com/?referral=RC-32845-88860-71

Noel Leeming retails Starlink. That's the only one I know of. A while back NL offered install and setup service for all computer product. Don't know if NL still does that or includes Starlink.

Recently NL have been offering a "wall install" https://www.noelleeming.co.nz/p/tech-solutions-starlink-wallmounting-setup-delivery-service/N216531.html

But possibly of more interest is the potential discount NL offer on the dish (irrespective of whether they install it). You might get over a couple of hundred off the dish if you are a member of, or have an account with, certain groups.  I don't know the discounts for all the groups, but the following are a good bet: Farmlands, Motor Home Association, Gold Card, CSCBG

What are peoples’ experiences with time to ship/receive from time of order?

Just bought one for a rural address but opted for Auckland delivery so I will drive the unit down when it arrives.

Seen some twitter and facebook ad's for it at $199 for rural people. Not gone thru to try some addresses and see what it calls rural but if you are rural and on the fence, for that price for the hardware its a no brainer IMO.

Mine turned up in 4 business days with an origin address about two blocks from me in East Tamaki

I've already got Starlink ($520 direct), but just bought another $199 dish as a spare and for some land I'm in the process of buying.  Hopefully I can cancel the contract and renew in a little while.  At this price its almost a shame not to try a backup kit :)

my mother lives just outside of Auckland in a lifestyle block currently on 4g via spark and peak speeds are abysmal. Previously on vodafone and changed as much the same. Have 2x antenna's and good coverage. Seriously considering starlink with the reduced hardware cost. How reliable and non-tech-person proof is starlink now? does it drop in/out at all? could it be reliably used for work teleconferencing?

Thank you

Starlink can be returned for a full refund within 30 days so I suggest just trying it for your purposes.  If you have a totally clear view of the sky (use the Starlink App to test the visibility) it should rarely drop out, though it can.  Having said that I have the side-views of my Starlink a little blocked by trees and it mostly works great with the occasional few-second outage presumably as it can't connect through the trees.   The hardware is currently only $199 (if rural) so now is the time to try.

Starlink Power Usage Increased?

I have my Starlink (square) plugged into a Dick Smith smart plug monitor.  I noticed back in February Dishy's power usage went up a bit - from a steady ~0.93kWh/24hr to more like ~1.13kWh/24hr.

This all happened the same time as a multi-day power-outage due to the Cyclone.  Defrosting is off, not I need that in Far North too often hopefully :)

Around the same time, I also notice Dishy reporting 'no blockages' now, even though the visibility is blocked a bit by a couple of trees each side of it.  I do wonder if its using more power to try and avoid the trees better perhaps?

Speeds seem to have stayed the same, or perhaps even better.  Usually above 200Mbps, occasionally 240+.

Hi. Looking at moving onto Starlink - currently on Spark Rural 4G

We have a lot of trees around the house and I am concerned about obstructions affecting performance. I have gone up onto the roof where the dish would go and used the app to check things out.  A negligible amount of obstructions show up and I get the message “This is a great location to mount your Starlink”

Query I have is how good and reliable is the app in determining how good the location will be? Does it it do a reasonable job of assessing things?

thanks

The App seems very good, though can be hard to get into the exact position the dish sees.  Some minor blockages don't affect things too much, though best to get the clearest view you can.

Buying Starlink direct (and possibly via Noel Leeming) you get 30 days trial to return the kit for a full refund - so its almost risk free to try.
