Another update on my issues. We finally replaced the Modem even thou we couldn't find any faults it was just behaving to weird.

So after a couple of days with lower error rates but still slightly higher than I think I should be getting I got a profile change to DLM1

Error rate has gone mental again so decided to drop the SNR slider down to the middle and looking better. Thinking this is about the best I am going to get!

@shadybrothers, how long have you been on DLM-1 with that error rate?

As long as I can remember, I cannot tell you exactly how long.

Hmm, interesting. I wonder if DLM uses SNRM as a part of it's criteria for deciding whether a line is 'stable' or not?

Who else has been playing with negative SNRM tweaks? SideFX, you were running this tweak a while back, how's it going for you now?

When you say negative SNRM you mean moving the slider left in the fritzbox to increase stability? Yes I was running that for quite a while and it worked well, but then around the beginning of December error rates were so low that I changed to proper SNR tweaking it - dropping target SNRM to increase throughput. I've been running at 8\9db ever since with CRCPM pretty steady at 0.4-0.45.

Just a brief update from me, for what it's worth...

I've been away on holiday and was wondering what my Fritzbox had been up to (was getting the new IP notification emails almost daily). Turns out I've dropped onto DLM-7 (16ms latency, INP 2) and I see bitswap is now set to on (sync speed not greatly improved, about 26 meg down).

Wiring/master filter will have to wait as I have to pay off my holiday debt. :P

Actually I mean the opposite, negative being taking the SNRM down below 12, but you answered my question anyway :D

Wow, slightly underwhelming download speed.

Cat 6 from dec to modem.
All other jacks disconnected at the dec point
Pre qual they expected i would get around 8 up and 35 down, at least the up was accurate. (line attenuation on the pre qual 5-6db)
At the moment im only getting 1m better the ADSL2+ for more $$

Ah ok, that makes more sense! :) I'm tempted to push it down to 7 or even 6, but since a couple of you seem to have dropped to DLM2 maybe I will leave it alone for now.

@redstorm: That doesn't look right at all. Any idea how far from cabinet\exchange you are? What was your line attenuation on ADSL? Are you sure unused jackpoints are completely disconnected and nothing else connected (unused alarm or anything like that?)

Definitely, I pulled the dec apart and cut the last jack other than the one for the VDSL so only 1 jack connected.
No POTS and only the modem connected, no filter as its the only device.

The cabinet would be 300 - 400m

interesting the Not Remediable Errors (CRC) is at zero but the FEC errors are through the roof.

Attenuation is definitely too high, im at 800m with 10db, you should check that you haven't been moved to the exchange for whatever reason

Actually you're getting 13888+7736 = 21624kbits/s vs about 14000kbits/s so 50% faster than ADSL.

What do you mean by DEC? I'd say you'd still want a VDSL Splitter even though you have a naked connection. What kind of jackpoints are you using? Something is looking wrong.
