So its been over 10 days now on DLM1 with a CRCpm of 2. I've been hoping Bitswap would turn on as I know the CRCpm would drop under 1 for sure but It's never come on and I'm still on DLM1 so not complaining.

I'm still on SNR of 13 too. Sync of 42Mbps.

If you turn off your router for 5+min you might find that the error rate drops (and bitswap may come back on).

I turned it off on Saturday for about 20mins as I had to hook up a new washing machine. Interestingly the router was on CRCpm of 1 for about 4-5 hours before it moved up to 2 again. I'm not worried now. It seems CRCpm of 2 isn't bad like it use to be.

I think i may have just wasted $26 on a VDSL master filter

It’s a common myth that having a naked xDSL connection (a xDSL connection without a phone) removes the need to use any filters. This is incorrect. While plug in filters are not needed as there is no need to split voice and xDSL signals, a naked xDSL service will still continue to be impacted by premises wiring issues that can only be eliminated by the installation of a master filter or disconnecting all other internal wiring so that only a single jack point remains connected for the xDSL modem.

As i disconnected all jacks at the Demarcation point leaving a single jack point for the DSL modem over new CAT6 cable.

Will install and see if any difference before logging a call to get the line looked at, just dont really want to be hit with the $270 no fault found fee.

You are correct, installing a splitter on a single jack only setup is a waste of time.

Yes, theoretically you don't need a filter if you have only a single jack. However we have heard reports that Chorus will refuse to even look for faults if a filter is not installed so for $27 it's probably worth trying.

They looked at mine fine with no splitter for low speeds and huge crosstalk reduction in the lower carriers.

They wouldnt run another aerial leadin and cable thru the house to try to reduce the ADSL crosstalk, and also they wouldnt run another cable the length of the driveway to reduce it either.

Internal and aerial to the pole I can pay to install another just for VDSL, the one down the drive is a no-go to replace, its underground and they say they cant string up another overground one the length of the drive. Whenever the power is out so no other ADSL connections I get way more speed. Taking my ADSL offline so its just my VDSL and it goes up even more so crosstalk is a massive issue.

I originally soldered mine too but was told that scotchloks\gel connectors are prefered to keep moisture out; and they're more convenient too IMO. EDIT: Also I seem to remember reading a suggestion that in same cases the wires used are coated\plated and so it can be difficult to get a decent connection by soldering; not really sure of the truth of that.

sounds like a good plan, I would agree with the coated\plated comment, i had to bare the copper before tinning would take...

looked into getting some scotchloks but looks like most suppliers are selling boxes of 100.. any tips on where o could pickup a few.

Edit: Found that Jay car do a pack of 10 scotchloks so will pickup some on the way home.

Jaycar sell a box of 50 for $11. Its way more then I need but for $11 I'm not too fussed. I'm sure I'll use them over time.

@hio77: looking good. Interesting where the troughs are in your spectrum. Lets see how DLM goes for you.

Which reminds me I must post my latest stats. I recently got bored so dropped my target SNRM (now on -50 in the Fritzbox settings file) CRCPM seems pretty stable at 1.32 after a couple of days of it.

Seems some issues there with the errors. Is the Fritz plugged into a power strip or its own socket? Seems way too much dip in that spectrum graph you should be seeing over 40Mb once you find out what that is. How many jack points are connected in the house?

its currently in a power strip, not a wall, considered reorganizing things and plunging it directly in, but in the excitement to get plugged in (and not be constrained by a rather low cap) got the better of me. didnt wanna go pulling plugs out and toying with DLM..

as for the line, i need to make some changes to it, clearly theres a few dips that could do with some improvements..

only moved in last week, and haven't had a chance to give things a proper inspection, however there appears to be no ETP (theres a box for it, but nothing seems to go into it - other than bits of paper and crap shoved up it..)

as far as i can tell, its connected to the master socket, so ill probably just deattach the rest of the loop, and see how that goes

so in terms of that, i expect the line is affected

in the wall now, down to 3208 FEC per min.. was at 1500 when i first changed it, but it went up over the next few mins

Here is mine and the errors are basically nothing so I would disconnect those other jacks and see how you go.
