Also, there are ADSL, ADSL2+ with different speeds.

Did anyone notice the giant wrap around ad on the Sunday Star Times on Sunday? It was one of those ones which replace the front and back page, and a prominent part of the ad was 'Rated number 1 by Broadband Compare'!

ADSL2, on anyone's gear, with a good line, is capable of more than 10MBps downstream.  Yet you list 2degrees, Compass, Voyager, TrustPower, etc ADSL as 10Mbps down.

To muddy the waters, if you're using ADSL2 on someone's LLU network (e.g. Slingshot or Flip, in some areas), and have an Annex M capable modem, you *can* get 2Mbps upstream, if you turn that feature on in your modem.  I've just set up a connection for our church like this; we get 16Mbps down and 2Mbps up.

Well, I see your point. But you need to understand what we publish only info we can get from providers or from their websites. If they announce 10/1 - we publish 10/1, if it is 20/2 or 100/100 or whatever - we publish 20/2 , 100/100 or whatever. We do not "invent" plans for providers, no way. We just show available information as a catalog/comparison tool. If you don't understand why "provider X" announced ADSL 10/2 - you should ask them :)

Also, if we have some incorrect info (like typo or some really strange listings - ADSL 50/20), we research this. Contact with this provider if required as well.

I didn't carefully scan through all the providers to pick those examples, I just chose a few at random.

I'd lump all ADSL2 plans in (apart from the delberately slowed down ones like Bigpipe's 3Mbps plan) together, listing them all at the same speed.  Chorus aim at a 10Mbps minimum speed for ADSL2 so it'd be fair to list that, or the maximum (24Mbps) for everyone - so 24/1 or 10/1.  Same for VDSL2 -- say 50/10.

I'd also link to the truenet results where available, and incorporate them into your ratings.  Currently MyRepublic is shown as the "best" ISP at my address, yet TrueNet says their peak time speeds are half their off peak speeds, and they're the only ISP tested to have performance that bad.
