Athlonite: If running it to schools is a priority then why is it that in Napier an area with 4 schools in it is left out for an area that has 1 school in it eg: Tamatea vs Marianui Oh I know why because mobsters make more money and they just gotta have ultra fast BB to make instant dope deals right

All Schools with the Chorus Areas have already had their UFB or RBI network rolled out to them approx two yrs ago - it is up to the schools and the RSPs to make use of this possiblity - this has nothing to do with mobsters or even the general UFB role out.

Then if that's the case why didn't they carry on with the installation of it through out Tamatea pretty stupid if you ask me to not carry on with it I am also going to ask at two of the schools if they have UFB available just to see if they have had it put down in front of them to use

Im not sure if you are aware but Schools, if they wernt in an area that was to be built at the time, have small service cables/terminals hooked into the existing Chorus fibre network and are connected back to the local exchanges for connection - this is the case for 95% of schools that have a UFB connection. There is/was no general roll out of the UFB network around them @ the time. This type of connection include Schools that will never have UFB rolled out in the local Area under the current programme ( I know that in the Hawkes Bay included in this are schools @ Otane & Maraekakaho

What existing fiber network their wasn't one until cabinetisation happened here in Tamatea where before that it was an 4.5KM run for phone lines from here to Onekawa exchange and that was the same for the schools here in Tamatea aswell I remember talking to the principal of Tamatea Primary who said they could only get crap internet because of the distance

quickymart: Citylink is CBD only, it wouldn't be available in Karori. What street is this on again that can only get ADSL?

It's actually been two places, I'm in the process of moving. On Wrights Hill Road I would only get very slow ADSL. Even though you can see thick black cables on the power lines with droppers that have "Saturn" written on them. The new place is on Beckers Way, Spark said that we could get VDSL but it turns out that we can't.

We have two schools in our (Wellington suburban) street - our house lies between them.
We're in a "cable" area.
We won't get fibre until late 2019.

BarTender: UFB in Wellington is low down on the priority list because there is already Vodafone cable so the demand won't be as high.

I'm also in Wellington and Weta and that business district are getting it this year. Whereas the rest of the area apart from seatoun is 2017-2018. Sigh.

Doesn't explain why many parts of Auckland doesn't get it until late 2019. It seems to be more that Chorus areas are the slow ones :(

At least for the areas around me, it appears they've just replaced Jun 2016 with Jun 2017?

Jul 2018 - Jun 2019 here :( (wainuiomata)

Will have to make do with VDSL, hopefully the bandplan change helps when that is rolled out for more speed

its still questionable if chorus are actually going to expand it with 998.

998 isnt due to be completed for a few months still, so ild expect not to be able to see it till thats done.

I'm 16ks from Auckland cbd and my install date is between June and Dec 2019. I've only got ADSL available from my place. That's a hell of a long time to wait with ADSL.

whats that got to do with anything? they're not rolling it out from the centre outwards. and your probably just unlucky to be exchange connected (assuming this as pretty much all of Auckland got cabnetitised
