BuzzLightyear: I'm 16ks from Auckland cbd and my install date is between June and Dec 2019. I've only got ADSL available from my place. That's a hell of a long time to wait with ADSL.

whats that got to do with anything? they're not rolling it out from the centre outwards. and your probably just unlucky to be exchange connected (assuming this as pretty much all of Auckland got cabnetitised

I'm just having a whinge. Short of moving I'm stuck with a max 10mb connection that hasn't changed substantially since the late 90's. Looks like a four year wait and Unfortunately no alternatives to pursue. I could accept it more readily if I was in a lesser populated area which is not the case. I'd even be content with VDSL.

someone had to miss out on the cabnetisation project and someone has to be first and last when it came to UFB

I wish they had have done the areas with ADSL first, ie upgrade the people with the slowest connections first, but they didnt decide to do it that way, which does suck for some.

i dont get UFB till 2019 either

Politicians thought that they would get more brownie points for "Ultra Fast Broadband" - sounds much more impressive and trendy than "rural upgrades to ADSL".

16kms? Kumeu?

Actually - I have a friend in Beach Haven (around the corner a bit from me) who can only get ADSL as well. He won't get fibre until 2017. Yet I have it now somehow. Luck of the draw, I guess.

You probably should consider yourself lucky that you're in the part of Titirangi that is getting UFB.

Probably doesn't make sense to upgrade the ADSL when you're going to install fibre in a few years.

Wonder when the 2016-2017 dates will be released, The last set where released in July last year so I'm hopeful it'll be rather soon as the map shows my house in this time-frame.

We've just gone unconditional on a new house in Lower Hutt and the Chorus map indicates we're scheduled for fibre by June 2016 - up to 12 months earlier than our current house which is one suburb and about three minutes drive away.  Totally worth the extra $250K (plus moving expenses)!

Many of these rural areas are never going to get fibre.

Andib:
Athlonite: have small service cables/terminals hooked into the existing Chorus fibre network... What existing fiber network their wasn't one until cabinetisation happened here in Tamatea where before that it was an 4.5KM run for phone lines from here to Onekawa exchange and that was the same for the schools here in Tamatea aswell I remember talking to the principal of Tamatea Primary who said they could only get crap internet because of the distance

This exisiting business fibre that runs down durham street.

When I asked about this the answer was : It was prohibitively to expensive to connect to . It was also pretty much the same answer from Tamatea intermediate and high schools

It looks like Chorus' fibre rollout schedule has been updated, Dunedin is now scheduled to be finished by June 2018 (it was originally December 2019).

I checked my address again just now - It used to say UFB available by June 2016, but they have changed this to "By June-2018".

How depressing :(
