Hi, I am new to the forum. I just bought a DGTEC 500GB HD Video Recorder on Trademe. The vendor told me that it came from Australia. When I tried to tune it, it didn't pick up any channels.

Is it compatible with NZ Freeview please?

Regards,

Werdna.

Chances are it isn't. The website doesn't give many details but if it doesn't support H.264 and NZ's 8MHz tuning steps (Aussie uses 7MHz) it won't work.

You also won't get a NZ EPG as it won't support MHEG5.

It could be compatible. More and more are compatible now.  Australia uses 7mhz   NZ use 8mhz.   Go into settings and there possibly will be a setting to change.   On the Strong Box, where you tune the channels, the setting is there, it is a pain having to change it on each channel range but it does work
