so i am moving back to New Zealand in a few months and will be living around the Auckland area.

so i am looking for the best isp that meets my needs.

i play a lot of wow,rift,cod etc.

basically what i want is a good low latency internet that can offer at least 10mb down/4 up(for streaming),
and around a 80-200GB/month data plan.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

cheers

10Mb up? unless that is a typo, then UFB is your only option, and your restriction there will be based on where you live (about 90% chance you won't be able to get it at all)

VDSL comes close to 10 Mbps upstream, and is very low latency. And available to a lot more people than UFB.

As usual, I'd recommend Snap.

If you want 4Mbps up VDSL2, fibre, wireless or cable are your only options.

ADSL2+ is only 1Mbps up, maximum 2.5Mbps running Annex M no matter where in the world you are.

SNAP for VDSL2. But you'll have to choose somewhere to live that can get VDSL, not every can get it.
If you can't get VDSL2, you'll have to look for some kind of Point to point wireless or get lucky and move somewhere with fibre.

If you can lower your upload expectations to 1Mb/s (ADSL2+) you'll have a lot more options available to you

If you need the 4Mb/s upload, when looking for places to live check that they lie within the VDSL2 or UFB areas on the chorus service availability tool:

thank you for that site, been trying to find something like that for a while.

i think snap so far is my best bet,ill just have to wait till i get back to NZ to find out for sure.

the only reason i would like at least 4mb up is because any less trying to stream i have heard is just terrible.

thank you all for your fast replies, greatly appreciated.

Unleash are also very good, and they have released new pricing which is very competitive.

For streaming it depends what streaming service you are going to use, routing to where their servers are located could be an issue.

Also what size, fps and codec determine what bitrate is required, a general rule of thumb:

480p (720x480): 750-1000kbps
720p (1280x720): 1500-3000kbps
1080p (1920x1080): 3000-5000kbps+

Pick where you are going to live carefully!

For VDSL2 you want to be as close to the local cabinet/exchange as possible, the further you are away the more line attenuation the lower the line rates.

For cable you'll need to be in the Wellington or Christchurch Telstraclear cable zones.

Forget about streaming on ADSL2+ imo.

It mostly depends on how far the house/apartment  is from the nearest cabinet/exchange,

You basically need to be less than 1km from the exchange or cabinet, in the green zone on the Chorus SAT tool.

There are only a few ISP's offering VDSL2 at this stage, Snap or Unleash (more business focused ISP) seem to be the main ones.

So find a place you think you want to move in to, ring Snap and/or Unleash and ask if they can do a pre qualification check for VDSL2
