Can I get people's experience, good, bad or otherwise with Telstra Clear Broadband?

It would appear they have good international bandwidth, they support non-interleaved ADSL for excellent latency, and the prices are not too nasty, even if you DO have a minimum toll spend with them.

Looking for a viable alternative to ihug/Xtra here.  Left ihug after years of good service was totally destroyed over a couple of months, and a short two months with xtra has me totally fed up with their service, interleaving, etc.

Ben: Can I get people's experience, good, bad or otherwise with Telstra Clear Broadband?

I use Paradise Net (owned by TCL) with a Max/Max plan and the throughput is good:

Tested about an hour ago I was getting around 3Megs down / 550kbps up.

However, since the new plans were released at the start of November I have been battling to get my plan's data cap changed.  I finally succeeded this morning after the third phone call.  In fact it was done less than an hour after I called them this morning by means of a "Manual Change" whatever that means.

All I know is that it worked and I am now on the plan I requested around 3 weeks ago.

TCL blame the Telecom Provisioning Team for this as my request was rejected the first time and then not actioned the second time (about 9 days ago).  I waited patiently till the end of my billing cycle last night and after seeing no change, got on the phone again and finally got it resolved.

Other than this hassle, I have had good service from TCL.  They provided me with a Static IP at no extra charge unlike Xtra who used to charge $30 extra per month for it (I believe this policy has recently changed for some plans).

The Paradise Net connection has been pretty reliable as well with no evidence of any throttling.  We have had a few outages this year, but they have been mostly due to problems in the wider Telecom network rather than anything I could blame on Paradise Net.

If you are a residential customer, you will be looking for TCL's PDQ broadband, but I don't expect the service would be much different than my experience with Paradise Net.  Thinking back to the dial-up days when we used Clear Net for quite a while, the service was always exemplary.

My 2c worth...
