Hi guys, I am looking at buying an ADSL modem since I plan to move from Telecom to something better (I am thinking Woosh). I mainly use the internet for torrents and some gaming. I dont need wifi or the ability to connect more than one computer. Do the modems make much of a difference and if so which one is the best to buy without forking out hundreds of dollars?

I have the free modem that telecom gives. I assume they would want it back when you unsubscribe or something, otherwise what modems are better than the one you get from telecom?

I don't think they want your secondhand modem back, if you're terminating early they'd prefer new money.
"A 12 month minimum term applies to all new Xtra Broadband connections. If you choose to close your Xtra Broadband account before the end of the 12 month period you will have to pay a $90 early termination fee."

i take it you have a DSL 302G. Keep it, TNZ dont want it back. You could spend a lot of money to find something faster than the 302. Id just stick with it.

Interesting, so do modems actually make much of a difference with performance? Can some get a better speed on seeing how peoples speeds differ so much on different phone lines can the modem make a little bit of difference?
