Just a quick recommendation on which is the best ISP provider for Wellington Central. I am moving their early next year so want to know who will be the quality for money! I don't know exactly where I will be living in Central Welly as no flat yet :).

Cheers guys!

If you can get Telstra Cable that's pretty good, otherwise you may have coverage with NZWireless or Telecom is pretty good too.

Seems a better answer may be in order, especially for a coolest little capital request Cool

This chart was quickly put together but is a simple concept, it is a pivot table for Wellington, on our Dummy national webpage and is the time to download (averaged over each hour for the month of June).  I have dropped Maxnet because we do not have enough probes in Wellington, but we do for the other ISPs.  I did not filter on plan, so Telstraclear includes Cable and DSL, dominated by Cable, their DSL is quite different - see our website for more on that.

Enjoy

Sorry for my complete ignorance (not to savvy when it comes to internet terminology) but what is telstra cable exactly?

And JohnButt, that is legendary! Exactly the sort of thing I have been looking for. Cheers mate. Will definitely check out your site.

Cable is a coaxial cable technology offered in only Wellington & Christchurch in limited suburbs.  Mainly those older suburbs where there is overhead wires.  You can tell when you are in the suburb by the very large bundles of cables hanging off poles in front of the houses.
The service is 15Mb/s down, 2 up - see TelstraClear site for more details, but it mainly depends on where you live, just the same as VDSL, which has similar specs, but is only available close to exchanges.
