Hi guys,
I'm over from the uk and just moved into a house and today tried to get the telephone and broadband installed. The line was dead so I have checked this evening and found that wiring has been disconnected in the master socket. The wiring coming into the house has four wires, black, brown, white and yellow. I have also found that the pins on connections two and five and worn and not holding the wires. The original socket has the cap and resisitor in it. I have removed that plate and used a more modern face plate and connected the black wire to connector 2 and the yellow wire to 5. I have left out the brown and white wire. The connection is working fine but i would like your advice as to whether its wired correctly. Unlike the uk it seems the master socket in nz is the up keep on the house owner, also do you thing the standard extension phone sockets are ok to use as a master socket.
