Currently, we are on Xtra and the speed is absolutely poor and unacceptable. When I'm downloading a file, it never went over 14KB/s. (Oh, I'm on GO LARGE plan). The funny thing is that it only started to happen only a few weeks (perhaps days) ago since the speed decreased significantly. Finally I have enough of Xtra and decided to switch to a new ISP.

After days of "researching" on geekzone and other forums, I've finally come to a decision between these two ISPs, Orcon and Xnet. If u think there are better ISPs, please recommend them (but certainly not Xtra)

Some extra information/questions: (if needed just in case)
Usually, me and my family surf int.sites more than national sites (or is that normal...--;;;).
Does the D-Link 302G (or something like that) really suck? Because I've read somewhere that this was their problem for the internet.
I'm in dunedin, if it matters

Where in Dunedin? Im on the Mornington exchange, recently switched to Orcon from Xtra and get great speeds. Not on Go Large though. Its a waste of money unless you just want lots of data without caring about speed

Dunedin Maorihil. I don't know what you mean by exchange, but hope this is what it is. Speed for Go large was great until 2weeks or so... Downloaded 40GB last month I think lol.

Xnet seems pretty good price-wise, FLS/128k + 10 gig usage is $44.19 a month! Better than Orcon anyway

One advantage that Xnet have over Orcon is Xnet do not use Asianetcom. If you game alot, you will appreciate the fact that Xnet only use MCI and Sprint as their international bandwidth supplier.

Also, FS/FS 15GB on Xnet is $65.31, and they do not require you to have your tolls with them. Overage charges on Xnet is also cheaper at $10.24 for 10gig, almost half the price Orcon charges for the same amount - although bear in mind Xnet do not sell in 10gig or 5gig blocks, but rather in a smaller unit of 1MB meaning you only pay for what you use.

And the list goes on...

Yes i have to agree with brad orcons service is excelent. Having interleaving off on orcon is great my data rate has changed from 3899/500 kbps
to 7104/864 kbps i have done several speedtest from speedtest.net and have never had a download speed below 6000kbps and have never had
an upload speed below 600 kbps. I havent tried xnet there pricing seems good but if you where to ask me what is the best isp in new zealand i
