Hey guys,
I'm going self employed this year being a contractor for advertising & marketing companies selling B2B. I estimate I will be spending about 1500min on the phone each month. I'm based in Auckland but 50% or more of the calls will be made to other regional landlines and cell phones.

Any company recommendations for something like this?

I know a guy who has a similar business and he said he has a cell phone with unlimited calls for $150 a month, that could work but was hoping for something cheaper.

Vodafone do a $140 one unlimited calls and SMS with a few GB of data and good handset subsidy

The company I work for are a 'Telecom dealer' yet we have moved our mobiles to Vodafone purely because they were the most willing to make us the best deal. had the highest amount of minutes, texts and data for the price. The only issue we have in Palmerston North (and surrounding areas) is the Telecom reception is much better. However, Telecom just wouldn't play the plan game so they miss out. I think we get around 1000 minutes for about $90... JohnR might know better. I don't do the accounts so don't really know. The other benefit was free calling between our mobiles - not a biggy for you though obviously.

Edit: Oh and we also got free handsets for everyone which included an S3, 3 iPhones, 5 Galaxy X-cover's and a bunch of low end Samsung 'rugged' handsets. Alot of kit for only a 12 month contract.

Thanks for the info guys, I'm leaning towards Voda or 2Deg with their smartphone plans, seem like reasonable value considering the calling time I will make.

Telecom has Pay Monthly plans for $139, unlimited mins, txts, FREE voicemail, 2GB data, NO TERM

2Degrees charge 20c per voicemail and I am not too sure about Vodafone.

fyi 2degrees are still an option, pay monthly plans are going to be refreshed in feb

LOL unsolicited bidding by the big three ...

But yes voicemail at 0c vs 20c a pop is HUGE when you tally up at end of financial year

Call waiting is no use if you are dealing with another customer and sms is no use if someone is calling from a landline and would you want to conduct business via sms?

Agreed but voicemail is a rip off and the mobile telco gets both clips of the ticket. Termination rate revenue when the connection is made plus 20 cents for retrieving a message/s or just getting a click when the caller decided to hang up.

The Vodafone Voicemail platform will delete a hang up call that is just someone hanging up and will not send out the notification

Telecom and 2Degrees could do the same

What about the other option when the number is presented by the caller but the called party receives a SMS advising of call and the presented phone number.
