I’ve been noticing recently that my Orcon download speed has been dropping after 6pm and pretty much staying low till after midnight for the last week or so, prior to this I was getting a small slow down but nothing of this magnitude.

Is anyone else having an issue with download speed?

Does anyone have any ideas as to why it’s so bad?

I’m on there Max/Max service
In the morning and when I first get home from work I’ll get 6000/600kbps
But after 6 it’s 700/500kbps this is testing using http://www.nzdsl.co.nz/module-Speedtest.phtml

My ping seems to be a constant 40-50ms.

Yep.

Remember 6pm is the time when people start arriving home from work and start checking their emails, forums, etc.
I have also noticed that if it is a boring TV night..things slow down then as well.

Orcon are always promoting how they have a huge amount of capacity on their network, but its your neighbors that slow it down.
