If you're literally right next to an exchange with VDSL but no UFB, is it still possible to get a 100mbps fibre connection, providing you pay all costs for equipment, running the fibre etc...?

Don't Chorus do custom fibre runs if the cust swallows all costs?

They will do it. But it won't be GPON.

Probably cost around $5k+ to get it installed and then some where in the region of $1000-$3000 for monthly fees, depending on CIR's, speed etc.

I'm sure Mr Dotcom got it done so he could game away to the wee small hours via Fttm - fibre to the mansion

why not call Telstra-Clear or Citilink or Vector? They probably would do the same deal unless there is some reason they already want to get fibre into your building. Still won't be cheap, from memory 5k just for building entry and thats if they already have fibre in the street. You will be paying for a commercial service too, so be prepared to tell the ISP what bandwidth and CIR you need for international traffic.

Time to find a new industry!

HSNS/Dark Fibre/Citylink/FX/TelstraClear/Vector/whoever.. there are lots of companies who can give you Layer1/2 from an ISP.. but it all depends on your physical location. Best thing to do is contact your favourite ISP and see what they can offer.

As a end user these Layer1/2 Carriers don't normally deal with the end user thus call your ISP.

If you're right next door to the exchange you'll get 17a on VDSL2 and 70Mbps down. Considering you're probably looking at upwards of $1000 per month for a 100Mbps P2P fibre connection vs $100 for a VDSL2 connection you've clearly got deep pockets or requirements that you're not telling us.

BTW Which Exchange are you talking about?

(with referance to Chorus fibre areas)

Some actualy do have GPON connecton services available (used to connect up Schools) even if general UFB connections are not available in the surrounding area.

Business GPON connections are available from these snaller exch areas but like has been commented on before install costs are up to the end user (not part of the free UFB connection scheme)

Contact your provider to enquire

What kind of business plans exist for UFB? Do any providers list them on their sites?

The exchange is Kaukapakapa, we need it for backhaul for a WISP project.  Fibre is far more reliable than copper?  The Pub there is aparently next to the exchange, I haven't had a proper look yet but a friend of mine who lives up there has been talking to the owners of the Pub and apparently got permission from them to install gear.

If you can get VDSL you could bond a bunch of them together to get higher upload rates, and a few ISPs around here can do it. It'll be a bespoke solution so don't expect to pay standard res rates, or to be able to do it without at least a dual WAN router.

You've clearly got vastly different requirements than what you posted about in initially. You really need to follow this up via the correct channels by approaching a provider as this is a bespoke solution.

Being a rural area the exchange may be cable of delivering a HSNS based fibre service but the costs clearly won't be cheap, and clearly what could easily be a $5 - $15k upwards install and then ongoing costs of probably $1000 minimum per month need to be factored into your business model.
