Any router with an ethernet wan port typically would support UFB

I see this
"NEW: NBN/UFB Support and mydlink™ Cloud Services"

as just a way for dlink to try and push a gigabit model. UFB support is going to become the catchphrase to get the common folk at dick smith to sell them over 100mbit models.

Interesting facr i read in a newspaper story the other day - NBN has been going for a year longer than UFB, and UFB currently covers 10,000 more homes than NBN

That's not actually correct, the router needs to support VLAN tagging. That is certainly the case for Snap. When I got my fibre installed in August last year, the fritz box and two other brands were the only consumer router that would work on UFB. I learned that the hard way as I was told by snap "my Cisco will work fine as it has a WLAN port"

I went to every computer store and finally at PBTech a Cisco ATA supported VLAN tagging and I used that unit until the fritz box arrived.

Hi, all UFB services are arrive tagged Vlan10 so you need to be able to untag inbound and tag outbound traffic. Pretty much all TP-LInks will do this by a CLI command, I am sure others will. I personally prefer Mikrotiks, steep leaning curve for the the casual user but a RB750 (around $80) can do pretty much all anyone would need for both SMB or Soho, or the RB750GL for $115 if you want all GigE ports.

This is not really true. The ISP can really ask for any VLAN from Chorus or they can just asked for it to be untagged at the Customers side. It's just quite a number of ISPs are using it tagged on VLAN 10.

Hi, ok, guess all the ones I have dealt with have it tagged, but good to know.

Cheers

Most ISP's ask for vlan tagging so they can use the CIR (tagging the packets with dot1p4).

If its untagged, they can't use this feature.

Yep makes sense, no Vlan then no tag placement to put the q tag into.
