Hi all,

I signed up with Xnet in January after the disaster that was GoLarge. Since then I have had impeccable performance until last week, when I started to get incredibly low speeds and high pings (300kbps/750ms to Sydney) at varying times of the day (peak and off peak).

I called Xnet, they said everything checks out on their end, so they blamed it on Telecom and more specifically the exchange. They also informed me that there are exchange upgrades going on everywhere, so it would most likely be that, and that I should wait 2 weeks until all upgrades are complete.

I find this unacceptable, so I called Telecom directly to ask about my exchange, and they couldn't tell me anything because i'm not an Xtra customer.

I was wondering if anyone knows any other places to call, or any other solutions/similar problems?

FYI: All technical specs on my Modem (SNR, Attenuation) all check out, and i have got a capacity of 6800/800 kbps.
I am in Christchurch, Avonhead Exchange.

After typing this post, I did a speedtest.net test to NZDSL:

Thanks for any help!

So are these "major" telecom upgrades only in christchurch?
I have had the same issue here in Auckland.  Telecom wouldn't help me and xnet says everything on there end is fine.

Hi,

Check your speed on another site, preferably your own ISP if they have a speed tester.

If you do a traceroute on nzdsl.co.nz (the host of speednet) you will be surprised where speedtest.net traffic goes.  It changed recently also.

There has been upgrades in Christchurch, in fact one yesterday morning 0130, take a look on our site for upcoming upgrades.  They have almost completed all upgrades which will be a relief.
