Is anyone on Orcon? I am thinking about changing from Slingshot. I was just wondering what they are like.

I have been on Orcon with the lowest speed offering (256Kb/5GB) for the last 3 months.  I chose them because of price, they seemed low cost.  So far, there has been no problems, however:

they require tolls in order to get a discount - they didn't give a listing of tolls made (admittedly I only made one call, normally I only use Kia Ora card), I have not asked for a listing but who knows if they will provide one?

The speed has been good.  It certainly has been much higher than the specified (256Kb), I'd say 10-20 times dialup at its best.

Basically, I rang them last night and asked for them to see if they could fix my high 'Pings' on gaming on the net. The guy I spoke to actually said it would be wise to change to a new I.S.P. I asked him to see if all the emails i had sent since the 1st of Jan had been Logged ,but, nothing. I had completed all the tests they asked, taken Screenshots, done a line speed test at Two different times during the day, and so on and so on. I Have always paid on time and dont really play that many games on the net. All I wanted was an answer and I would have been happy, but since they obliviously dont give a stuff  and  Didn't look into the problem I will change and never recommend them to anyone, ever.

Yup.

I've found them to be pretty good, the help desk seems to actually know what they're doing.

And for the last couple of month I've not had any issues at all (bit of a record for me and broadband Laughing)

I was with orcon for a couple of years - back when 128k and 256k dsl was the envy of all my friends.
I only left because slingshot bet them on price, but overpromised on something else which would have made me stay with orcon.
From what I hear since, they still provide a very good service.

Yes, I definitely recommend Xnet! They're like the talk of the town now. Excellent reliability, speed, and customer service. They're also the second cheapest, after Slingshot.

Orcon - very good, good helpdesk, fast internet, static ip if your not on the no data cap plan,
often get 600-750K downloads on BT

tolls show on the bill, and there is a better breakdown on the orcon website destination/national/international
for each toll call you have made, very good

Why is Xnet the cheapest? Because they dont have a toll discount?

Because:
FS/128k:
15GB on Xnet costs $49.31 and on Orcon (with Tolls) costs $49.95
30GB on Xnet costs $64.67 and on Orcon (with Tolls) costs $69.95

Excess data on Orcon cost $10 for 5GB, and on Xnet excess data cost $5.12. Excess data on Xnet is almost half of that of Orcon. and you're not forced to pay for excess data, unlike Orcon. And Xnet charge excess data in increments on 1MB, rather than in blocks which will go to waste if you don't consume all of it before your billing cycle.
